I was more defending Ryan as Laz seemed to be suggesting that Ryan was irrelevant to that staff. Not directly a defense for him to remain in Dallas as DC.

Again, I waver on that.

Lovie Smith has a Super Bowl ring too.

From his time as defensive coordinator with the Rams.

No. Not true. I thought the same. The DC for that team was Paul Giunta. However, when Martz was made the HC the following year, he led the Rams back to the SB, and Lovie SMith was his DC. They loss to the Pats, and it was later revealed that the Pats cheated with the infamous Spygate, and that's how Ryan won his SB ring.

Credit where it's due. LBs were the strength of that defense.

Bruschi. MgGinest. Took an unknown guy who never saw the field in Vrabel and turned him into one of their better players.

Then let him go back to being an LB coach, because he sucks as a DC.

I remember Parcells making the statement that Ware was not a guy you wanted rushing every down. You run the risk of shortening his career. Ware’s body might be starting to break down from all the punishment he has taken. The guy has produced at a Hall of Fame level, but let’s go ahead and make him change positions. Makes no sense.

*BTW, if Ware is on the downside, i would trade him now.

Parcells wanted Spears over Ware. Take that as you want.

Ooooohhhhh. I did not know that. I stand corrected.

Carr made a statement at the end of these season that it took the coaches some time to learn how he plays and his strengths. It took Ryan some time to learn the NFC East. I think if you bring in another DC or hell a new HC, then he has to go through the same growing pains. So sick of the learning a new playbook, new system growing pains excuse.

I would rather get rid of everyone. Trade the top tie players and start over. Enough with the blame game.

Yeah. While we are at it... let's get rid of Romo, and Witten as well. Get rid of good players, for the sake of keeping lousy coaches.

It's obvious that those three are the ones that are holding both Ryan and Garrett back and thus the team, and have us stalled at 8-8.

He wanted merriman, Jerry told him the postons would cause him to hold out and miss camp.

He caved, they got spears at 20. They told him spears would be available and he was.

Why this story gets twisted so much is beyond me.

By the way the reason he was reluctant to listen was because the year before he left it in their hands and listened to the scouts an d mo carthon and they said Julius, Kevin jones were as good as Stephen Jackson.

Parcells didn't like merriman. Thought he was a jerk
He thought merriman would be better initially but ware would be better long term

One potentially funny thing -- Rob seemed peeved about not being retained in Cleveland and that was when the HC got axed. He might have some interesting things to say about this organization if and when he gets canned.

One good thing aout Rob Ryan being scapegoated will be he won't be afraid to blast the organization after he exits. That should be interesting.

Thanks, Repeat...err Chris

But it might create an excuse for the process of a few more years of struggle. "We're only two years into rebuilding the defense!"

Exactly. Once the fans' self-imposed 5 year offensive rebuilding plan is completed, this will buy another 3 years to fix the defense. Then we'll give Ginger another 5 to work on ST since its totally the gimp's fault that this team blows. So I think his job is safe for another 10 years. The Landry contract advocates will be pleased with the news.

Ok so who didn't like the Postons, Jerry or Parcells?

Either way, I'm glad we made the right decision.
