It's a major step forward in reform. Period. If it costs me more now to do it to fix it in the long run then so be it. I'll be more than happy to oblige if it means getting and keeping all these lowlife pieces of shit off my payroll in the future.

I think someone posted a list of ridiculous things we get taxed on awhile ago in this very same thread. I think one was teaching a group of black males how to wipe their junk off after sex, or some bullshit.

And these guys are against paying taxes to reform the broken down welfare system?? lol people are funny.

it is never going to be cost effective. The cost of testing EVERYONE is always going to outweigh the cost of catching a few. So instead of funding a few lowlife pieces of shit you're spending a TON more on pointless, idiotic tests. Please, anyone, outline the benefit of this. I'm still waiting.

I will keep saying it until you address it. It's a huge step forward in reforming a majorly flawed system.

Why not use this money to create jobs? Or buy paint and let them paint over some graffiti. Lets workshop this.

They need to bring back the CCC.

I think the problem is is that the only jobs we're offering people cheating welfare are crap jobs. Granted they have a highly inflated opinion of themselves, but still, offer them something worthwhile. Or create respectable jobs, again, the CCC. Not some shitty McD's job with low retention. Or raise the minimum wage to 10 bucks. That's basically minimum wage in Aspen, CO. Or at least was while I was living there.

Which is a bigger problem. To me, the American dream is to put in your 9 to 5 and have enough for a basic American lifestyle. Gas in the car, food on the table etc.

The gap between the 1% and the rest is getting wider and the middle class is being squeezed like never before. Not to sound like a Bruce springstreen chorus but it's like cmon

I have random drug tests at work to make money to which I pay taxes on... some toward our welfare system. Is it to large a jump that the very people I am having to help while taking these drug tests do the same? This is like the folks that object to having to have a valid photo ID to vote.

It doesn't target anyone except the ones that are breaking the law.

Personally this isn't going far enough. You still have folks like this gentleman... Watch the whole thing and tell me that isn't wide spread...

Somehow it's racist against black people. Ask Cythim.

Maybe if we let the 1% keep taking all the new profits like they are now eventually we can all be on welfare/Maury.

The government's job is what we decide it is.

That ends up being a fluid thing. If the government is not providing value for it's people then what good is it?

so you'd prefer giving government the power of job creation. Brilliant. Let them have even more control.

The government should be there to do what the people can not. People can create jobs.

The government is the largest employer there is already. And that's how it's always going to be. In times of crisis, when the private market can't sustain itself then I do believe it should be the government's duty to pick up the slack. For instance I think we would have been much better off being more frugal with the bank bailouts and more aggressive with the stimulus. What is better the government helping private companies or the government setting up a task force to reinvent our infrastructure and employ thousands in the design and construction of roads, utilities, bridges, etc? They tried to do that to a certain extent, but we had been sitting on our asses so long there weren't any shovel-ready projects to go so all the money just kind of sat around rather than being reinvested in the American people, who can then use it to purchase goods, which in turn stimulates the economy.

Yes, that is an example of government providing value to it's people, and it's what we should do in many cases.
