so you'd prefer giving government the power of job creation. Brilliant. Let them have even more control.
The government should be there to do what the people can not. People can create jobs.
The government is the largest employer there is already. And that's how it's always going to be. In times of crisis, when the private market can't sustain itself then I do believe it should be the government's duty to pick up the slack. For instance I think we would have been much better off being more frugal with the bank bailouts and more aggressive with the stimulus. What is better the government helping private companies or the government setting up a task force to reinvent our infrastructure and employ thousands in the design and construction of roads, utilities, bridges, etc? They tried to do that to a certain extent, but we had been sitting on our asses so long there weren't any shovel-ready projects to go so all the money just kind of sat around rather than being reinvested in the American people, who can then use it to purchase goods, which in turn stimulates the economy.
Yes, that is an example of government providing value to it's people, and it's what we should do in many cases.
