Smart kid (computer engineering), but slower than molasses. That will be a problem if he plays guard instead of center, where he'd be expected to pull on sweeps. In all likelihood, had we taken a safety at #31, Frederick still would have been available to us in Rd 2. For some reason, we just had to have him in Rd 1.

I'm sympathetic with that.

But at the same time, the team really needs help on the OL. And OL prospects were disappearing at a record pace. Perhaps it is worth not getting full value if you get what you need.

Yeah, I know that reaching for a prospect is almost universally considered unwise, but at the end of the day, if this new Center really is a significant upgrade over what the team has otherwise and in fact solidifies the interior OL, maybe it is smarter just to get the guy a half round too early instead of playing it cute and possibly losing him.

Just a thought. I can see the other side of it too.

But certainly they had other needs (d-line, safety) where the player chosen at 18 or 31 wouldn't have been a reach.

I hope they make him shave.

Winters is a name I've heard assocaited with the team by other dallas media guys.

But you have to wonder, does taking an interior OL in the first change things?

I'm curious on why anyone is listening to Broaddus on draft picks anymore? He has been pretty wrong so far.

Don't get me wrong, I like Broaddus but it appears he is not getting or sharing any factual "inside info". He's basically a better known sdogo at this point.

Everyone remember when mankins was projected in the 2nd/3rd round. Everyone thought it was a reach for the pats at 31.

That worked out pretty well. Frederick is going to be a solid anchor that we can count on every year

Hmmm...... Wonder if Hostile will come out of lurk mode to retract his "told you so" routine from the other day

‏@ArmenWilliams Sources confirm that Garrett appeared so upset last night at 18 because he wanted Sharrif Floyd. Overruled by Jerry & Stephen. #Cowboys

I should go post that over there as my coming out of zone retirement post.

Really can't argue with that.

The drunken oil boys are in charge, Garrett must know his last link to his job is play calling.

I see no way he gives it up, babe hinted Garrett would call plays yesterday also.

That's a problem. So it wasn't Reid at 18-it was Floyd.

Floyd vs Frederick + 74 - lets see how this plays out.

Don't like our chances

Trying to find the positives..

our two most important OL spots (LT and C) are 22 years old. Frederick is 20 days younger than Tyron. If we can draft a quality Guard then 3/5th of our line should be set for a long time.

Also, the #1 pick, Fisher, is all of 24 days younger than Tyron Smith.
