But coples reminds me of jj watt in what he could bring. Just an infusion of length and athleticism. He's a sexy prospect. I'm not willing to write him off for lack of numbers. He isn't a pure edge rusher, he's not going to light it up in The stat sheet. But he's going to chase the qb off his spot and knock down balls.

I agree, just how would Coples feel about playing DE in a 3-4, which is basically playing DT, which he refused to do this year.

Maybe if someone could tell him that DEs get paid the same, alot, either scheme.

That didn't stop him from playing the run and taking on blocks last year though. But it's worth noting that that's his focus.

Did you read the whole thing?

Coples did participate in defensive line drills, as well as linebacker drills at the request of Ryan. As he told the media staff at North Carolina following the workout, "So many teams are going to a 3-4 and I just wanted to show that I was versatile and can play a lot of positions. I couldn't turn down Coach [Ryan], but I was planning to workout at linebacker all along

"I take pride in being versatile," he said. "It definitely has raised my stock in that it lets teams know that I can inside or out.
"I'm definitely prepared for whatever defensive scheme that a team has."

The North Carolina coaching staff asked Coples to slide inside to tackle in the middle of 2011, a move he originally resisted. But the 30 pounds he has added since joining the Tar Heels program showed as he finished with 59 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.

I wonder if the Barron detractors have watched him at all? He plays all over the field, has great awareness, ball skills and is quite fluid in coverage.

I'm watching Wake Forest OG Joe Looney go up against Clemson DT Brandon Thompson. It's only 2 plays so far, but Looney is doing a great job of driving him back.

edit: sorry, it's not Brandon Thompson. But he still looks very good. Just explodes off the snap. Strong upper body.

I like how we're looking at LSU CB Ron Brooks.

Kind of reminds me of Marcus Gilchrist of Clemson who San Diego took in the 2nd round last year.

Had a nice, little rookie year.
