14 **DALLAS COWBOYS:** MARK BARRON, S, ALABAMA
Scouting Report
**After addressing their needs at offensive guard and cornerback in free agency, Dallas is now free to look elsewhere with this pick. The Cowboys have had major issues at safety for nearly a decade and it might finally be time to do something about it. It looks like Gerald Sensabaugh is entrenched at free safety but they can do better than journeyman Abram Elam at strong safety. Alabama’s Mark Barron is far and away the top safety prospect in this class and the only consensus first round talent at the position. Not only does Barron have a nice blend of size and speed but he also earns high marks for his football intangibles. Barron is definitely more of an in-the-box type but he has also flashed some playmaking ability in coverage. In many ways Barron compares favorably to LaRon Landry and he would likely be the best safety that Dallas has had since Darren Woodson. The Cowboys haven’t used a premium pick on a defensive lineman in five years now so don’t be surprised if they go that direction here either, with Fletcher Cox of Mississippi St., Dontari Poe of Memphis, Quinton Coples of North Carolina and Michael Brockers of LSU all possibilities.
Coples -15
Decastro -18
In this scenario I trade back 4-6 spots and try for coples or decastro
45 **DALLAS COWBOYS: SHEA MCCLELLIN, OLB, BOISE ST.
Scouting Report
Hybrid pass rusher in the mold of Brooks Reed to bolster less than stellar linebacker depth.
Draftscout: that's how he enters the NFL, as a hyperactive, efficient edge player who has great field awareness and is as tough as, well, a good old farm boy
Brooks reed type, Good ol' farm boy who you wouldn't mind your daughter marrying.
