Vikings | Showing interest in Eric Weddle

Vikings | Showing interest in Eric Weddle

The Minnesota Vikings are showing interest in free-agent FS Eric Weddle (Chargers), but Weddle currently has no visits scheduled with interested clubs. If the Vikings do sign Weddle, it will likely spell the end for FS Madieu Williams.

5 years, 32 mil. Shocked the Redskins didn't up it, but hopefully it means they're generally not willing to be market setters for a change.

Probably setting the market price for Free, who should get a little more than Yanda because he can start at either T spot.

6yrs, 42-48 mils total

Ravens | Dawan Landry wants to stay

Ravens | Dawan Landry wants to stay
Tue, 26 Jul 2011 17:48:48 -0700

Unrestricted free-agent SS Dawan Landry (Ravens) has made it clear that he would rather re-sign with the Baltimore Ravens. "I'd rather be a Raven," Landry said. "I feel like we've built something here, and there's great chemistry on the team. I think we're almost at that next level. A play here and a play there and we would've been in the Super Bowl. It'd be nice to finish this thing that we started."

Chargers | Jeromey Clary returns with four-year deal
Tue, 26 Jul 2011 17:47:20 -0700

The San Diego Chargers have reached a four-year deal with ORT Jeromey Clary, one of their own free agents. The deal is worth $20 million and Clary will make more than $8.5 million in 2011. His return keeps the Chargers' offensive line intact from a year ago.

Clary is another young starting T who signed. Free will obviously get more money than him, but this is a couple of players now with similar career tracks as Free who have signed in Yanda and Clary.

Hopefully Jerruh gets this done.

Vikes agree to trade 6th rounder in 12 and possibly 6th in 13 to Wash for Donovan McNabb. Deal contingent on McNabb agreeing to much less $$

Tyler Thigpen headed to Buffalo
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 26, 2011, 11:27 PM EDT

Tyler Thigpen will reunite with Chan Gailey in Buffalo, giving the Bills another overlooked and underrated veteran quarterback option.

A league source tells PFT that Thigpen agreed to a three-year deal with Buffalo. The Vikings were also involved in heavy discussions with Thigpen, but ultimately the former seventh-round pick of the Vikings chose the Bills instead.

Yes, it appears Donovan McNabb was the backup plan to Thigpen.

Thigpen was highly productive in Kansas City under Gailey despite an unstable situation around him. (He threw 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2008 and made some incredible plays with his feett.)

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the clear starter, but Thigpen gives Buffalo another athletic option that knows Gailey’s system. Thigpen is big upgrade from Brian Brohm, who was Fitzpatrick’s backup last year.

Redskins agreed to terms with DT Barry Cofield on a six-year contract.
The Redskins were fully expected to pursue Cofield, who will presumably replace Ma'ake Kemoeatu as the starting nose tackle in Jim Haslett's 3-4 scheme. Cofield bounced back nicely in 2011, grading out as a top-12 tackle in Pro Football Focus' ratings. Mike Shanahan's club is still expected to battle the Cowboys for free agent DE Cullen Jenkins this week.
