Ravens agree to terms with Marshall Yanda

Ravens agree to terms with Marshall Yanda
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 26, 2011, 6:29 PM EDT

The Ravens let go of a lot of big names on Monday in part so they could spend big money to keep one of their up and coming players.

G.M. Ozzie Newsome confirmed Tuesday evening that the team agreed to terms with guard/tackle Marshall Yanda. We previously heard that the Ravens believed bringing back Yanda was the key to their running game this year.

“We got Marshall Yanda! That’s great news,” coach John Harbaugh said. “He told us he wanted to be a Raven and he understood the business part that he had to go through. I’m beaming, you see Ozzie smile and is there anyone more excited than [offensive line coach] Andy Moeller right now? We’re a better team than we were one hour ago.”

Yanda is likely to move back to guard, but he can play right tackle when asked.

There was a report that the Redskins were interested in Yanda, which surely drove up his pricetag. He may wind up getting more money than any guard in free agency this year, including Robert Gallery and Davin Joseph.

The double apology is necessary. Don't want to run off another source of inspiration, er, information!

Marshall Yanda re-signed with Baltimore, 5yrs, 32mils...probably a similar type deal coming for Doug Free, who might get a little more because he is a proven LT...my guess is 6yrs 42-48mils

Vikings signed Bears WR Devin Aromoshodu

Niners resigned bust QB Alex Smith

Eagles S Quinten Mikell signed with St Louis

lol I dunno, Carroll might resurrect Leinart's career.

Leinart will have no more excuses after this.

One of the best college QB's I've seen. Started reading his own clippings, decided partying was more important than improving his craft, and butted heads with his Head Coach. Supposedly was a hard-worker in Houston (according to Kubiak and Shaub). I'd like to see him show something (finally).

Right. This is it, if he can't do it here, he'll never do it.

Jets | Have contacted Nnamdi Asomugha

The New York Jets have contacted the representatives of free-agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha (Raiders). However, it is unclear how serious the Jets are in pursuing the most sought after cornerback in free agency this year. Asomugha may be willing to take less money to play for a contender.
