Yes but he and Harbaugh had issues from Pac-10 days.

What issues did he have with Mays? I knwo that the rivalry thingy with USC and Stanford, but it had to be more than that. These guys are professionals or at least suppsoed to be.

I'm intrigued by brining Mays here.

I remember people almost committing suicide that we didn't take Mays last year and here a year later and he is on the block. Wow...

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Oakland Raiders have reached an agreement with formerGiants tight end Kevin Boss on a four-year, $16 million, according to a league source .

The Raiders had been looking for a replacement after losing tight end to Zach Miller to the Seattle Seahawks in free agency.

This is great news, as far as I'm concerned.

I had no interest in seeing him go back to the Giants. Underrated TE, IMO.

Agreed, very underrated. Now never to be heard from again....

QB Jonathan Crompton, who was released by Pats this week, agrees to terms on 3yr deal with the Bucs

This isn't a newsworthy signing, other than this kid being a former UT Vol, and me hating him because he sucks. Not sure why TB is giving him a 3 year deal.

Do you remember when Stanford whooped up on USC and went for 2 towards the end of the game? Mays immediately sprinted over to the Stanford sideline and basically called Harbaugh a Bitch.

Supposedly as soon as Harbaugh came to SF he would not speak to Mays. Mays was telling teammates that Harbaugh was holding a grudge and thats Mays had no chance here. Harbaugh then started the "Mays is disruptive in the locker room" stuff.

It's a bad marriage to me. Doesn't mean Harbaugh isn't a good coach and it doesn't mean Mays won't succeed somewhere else. Seems strange that the 49ers organization would be so quick to give up on a player selected 49th overall just a year ago.

I thought, from pictures of our 2010 Draft board, that we had a 2nd round grade on him. I hate the 49ers but I watched most of their games last year to watch Mays. He made a lot of great plays on Special Teams and had 11 tackles in his first start at SS. He also showed a lot of the coverage issues that many were fearful with him. If we took a chance on him (conditional 3rd if he plays well, more likely a 4th round pick), he'd be a great gunner on the punt team and would do stand out on kickoffs. He's a 6'2" 235-pound missile. Then hopefully Ryan could groom him at SS and take advantage of his skill set on safety blitzs, while working on his coverage skills.

I was the biggest Mays fan on the Zone and even I wanted Eric Berry and Dez Bryant over him. I thought we had a shot at him in the 2nd but he went before we took Sean Lee. Plus, we had a higher grade on Lee as well as a few other safeties (Nate Allen) than we did on Mays.

I'd give up a conditional pick for a young guy like that. Then see if he can unseat Elam or the Great Sensebaugh.

Well that's ridiculous. But it's going to make those Seahawks (Carroll) and 49ers' (Harbaugh) all the more interesting. I wonder if he Seahawks go after Mays and pair him with Thomas? Mays wanted to play for Carroll, and was disappointed when he wasn't drafted by the Seahawks. Like I said, I am intrigued with bringing Mays here. If he was brought here and him and AOA panned out, that'd be a pretty nice and young safety tandem. Then we wouldn't have to use a first on a safety.

But oon a side note. I heard that Mays has issues with his Achilles.

Shaun Ellis goes from Jets to Patriots.

This certainly helps us week 1. Jets have a weak defensive line.
