Wait what?

So if the OT is playing the DE who is blocking the OLB in a 3/4?

You're rarely going to have situations where the OT is blocking the DE (who lines up inside of or head up on him). The only instance would be on some sort of stretch block where the play is going away from the tackle (in which case the OLB is likely left unblocked) or a down block where the play is coming toward the tackle and you have a guard or someone pulling to block out the end/OLB (demarcus).

No way to go over every possibility. Just watch the games, Demarcus is almost always matched up on a tackle in run/pass.

So your saying the DE is mostly blocked by the TE or unblocked?

I don't know how that makes any sense, a offensive lineman is mainly going to block the guy head up or inside him thats basic football 101.

No, the DE will mostly be the guard's responsibility unless the tackle is required to block down on a given play.

In the running game it all depends on play design, defensive alignment and which gap the play is coming to. You have down blocks, reach blocks, trap blocks, stretch blocks, etc.

Someone could have just simply said that they over exaggerated about the "taking years away" thing with Ware playing DE instead of OLB. Instead we get this lame bullshit. OLBs get blocked by OTs and chipped by TEs. Not much to argue about here.

According to superpunk, the DE is blocked by the OT on each side "almost exclusively in a 34 D". Yet the OLB always gets blocked by the OT too, he says.

He could just admit he has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to anything football related, but that just wouldn't be his style.

Maybe he should just stick to what he does best.. his little quips and unwitty remarks to other people who are actually posting about football.

Read back...he said they are blocked by the guards. He's right...the other guy is wrong.

The initial response was because I thought he was asking about the DE in a 4/3 and the OLB in a 3/4 because we were talking about their matchups against the offense. It's clarified better later.

He clearly asked "who blocks the DE in a 34?".

You were confused.. that i do understand, because both questions have a 2 word answer that took you 10 posts and 20 paragraphs to try and explain. Keep posting that icon bud.. irony is funny.

Or you could have just read the whole thread and got the idea instead of shooting your mouth off and looking dumb.

There's a reason we have this icon.

You're absolutely right bud. I should have read the entire thread so i could more fully understand where the points were that you were getting confused by simple questions and giving retarded answers to them. My bad.

I can give you the quote from earlier too where he answers the question of "who blocks the DE in a 34" with "The OT".. would you like me to show you?

He was tripping all over himself trying to answer a simple question.

34.. the OLB's are blocked by the OT's.

43.. the DE's are blocked by the OT's.

Any questions?
