Garrett is not strong enough to be a head coach. If the media says he is passing too much, he overcompensates and runs too much...or vice versa. He allows the media to completely shape what he does. The 24 hour rule that he instituted? WTF...that is some weak ass shit...he could have simply said he did not want to talk about it anymore instead of coming up with some lame ass rule.
I don't think he lets the media dictate what kind of offense he runs at all. The 24 hour "rule" is just his way of saying we've moved on. I don't know if it's the first time he's mentioned the rule or not, but I don't blame him for not answering the questions any more. They would ask him about it for the rest of the year if he let them.

The clock thing though is huge...I mean anyone that watches any kind of football knows to call a TO there. Hell, a 10 year old kid playing Madden would know that.
No argument there... I said the same thing after the game.

I don't question Garrett or his football knowledge...I question his ability to lead.
I think he's got this locker room bought into his philosophies... so I think he's a good leader. Good clock manager? Hell no.

Those are 2 suppositions based on your ability to think.

Not a good harbinger of things to come.

He absolutely lets the media dictate what he does. The run game thing in particular...every time he had been criticized for not running enough he overdoes it to make a point. I bet he does it this week too. The locker room is buying into philosophies that are not his, but shaped by the media.

His mantra has been to play well in all three areas and an emphasis on situational football...last week was a glaring example of him not being prepared or just inept.

I think it's irrelevant. Which was my point to begin with.

You were dead to me once. After allowing you to come back to life you are dead to me again.

Absolutely huh? Shouldn't be too hard to prove it then. And I'd be particularly interested to see how you know it's from media pressure as opposed to, say, getting Fiametta back this week, or the fact that you're going to run more the more success you have with it.

He's done more than just put an emphasis on situational football and playing well in all three areas. This team is acting more professionally than it has in years, and they talk a lot about focusing on the task at hand... putting one practice/game/play together at a time.

If you cannot see how he reacts to negative media, particularly in the run game, then I am not sure what to tell you.

As for how well he is running practice...great, all that hard work should pay off at the end of games with clock management and whatnot...or maybe not.

I wish Payton was our head coach, but Parcells was still around. Just imagine how that scenario would of played out.

That scenario wouldn't have been much different than what we have right now. Jerry would still call the shots and force personnel and coaches on Payton.

That is true. Until Jerry is out of the equation we're stuck at mediocrity. So why bother asking for another coaching change then? Right?

Wait until Jerry is no longer in control.

aka... you don't have a way to prove it. It's pure speculation.

Apparently it paid off against Miami, Washington (twice), and San Francisco.

Check out the NE game if you think I am off here. The previous game was the Lions game, when he was roundly criticized for not running and milking clock...so at the end of the Pats game, leading by 3, he decides to run 3 straight times to milk the clock, despite not being able to run all day. Also, his starting RB and LG were hurt at the time. You think he does that if the Lions game and criticism is not fresh in his mind?

I did like the way we closed against Miami and the first game against the Skins...but we got lucky in the 2nd game with Was and the SF game. Gano missed two FGs and in case you forget, the 3rd down call against the Niners...the flip to Austin? Terrible call, lost yardage, and Austin actually suffered an injury on the play. Down by 3 with 49 seconds left and you call that play? Horrid.
