If Zimmerman does in fact have wounds from this altercation (nose injury or head injury). I cannot see how he could be convicted at all

starting a new club for people who like to stalk innocent people until the innocent people freak out.

Then you get to shoot the innocent person.

Like when my sister used to irritate me until I hit her, then run and tell my dad.

Do you think they will convict him and if so what will his sentence be?

I think they convict him of manslaughter 10-15 years.
I think they'll convict him of something. But I thought Casey Anthony would be convicted too. The safe bet is manslaughter, because they wouldn't have to find intent. I think Zimmerman had intent to kill, just not premeditated.

It's all going to depend on the self-defense theory and how much weight the jury (I'm assuming a jury trial) gives that. I'll have to look up what the range of punishment is on these offenses. I know second degree murder is up to life, but not sure on manslaughter. That DUI manslaughter trial a few weeks ago the guy got 33 years. I'm kind of thinking in the 20 range myself, subject to change depending on what facts are presented.

Killers can still get convicted even if they have injuries from the event.

Trayvon Martin case: Slain teen’s mom, Sybrina Fulton, says killing was ‘an accident’*
Fulton later says comments were 'mischaracterized,' says Zimmerman 'stalked and murdered' Trayvon 'in cold blood'

One day after George Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder, Trayvon Martin's mother said she believes her son's killing was an “accident.”

"I believe that it just got out of control," Sybrina Fulton told NBC's "Today" show on Thursday. "And [Zimmerman] couldn't turn the clock back."

Fulton told host Ann Curry she wanted Zimmerman to apologize for fatally shooting her son, and ticked off a list of questions she wished she could ask the 28-year-old volunteer watchman.

"I would ask him, did he know that [Trayvon] was a minor, that he was a teenager, that he did not have a weapon," Fulton said.

"I would ask him that I understand his family is hurting, but think about our family that lost our teenage son," she said, her voice quaking with emotion.

"I'm sure his parents can pick up the phone to call him, but we can't pick up the phone to call Trayvon anymore."

Later on Thursday, Fulton released a statement to*MSNBC saying,*"in NO way did I mean the shooting was an accident."*

“We believe that George Zimmerman stalked my son and murdered him in cold blood.* The 'accident' I was referring to was the fact that George Zimmerman and my son ever crossed paths. *It was an accidental encounter,” Fulton's statement said.*

"My son was profiled, followed and murdered by George Zimmerman, and there was nothing accidental about that," she said.*

Zimmerman is due in court today to face charges of second-degree murder. If convicted, he could face life in prison

The severity of the charge shows prosecutors don't believe the Feb. 26 slaying in Sanford, Fla., was an accident.

Instead, they believe Zimmerman intended to kill Trayvon, and did not shoot him in self-defense, as Zimmerman claimed.

Zimmerman turned himself in to state police in Jacksonville on Wednesday, shortly before special prosecutor Angela Corey announced the charges.

He is due in court Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and will plead not guilty. His laywer, Mark O'Mara, said he would ask the judge to allow Zimmerman to post bond.

Trayvon Martin's father, Tracy Martin, said he hopes that doesn't happen.

"I feel as though he needs to be locked up, and just prepare himself to be held accountable for what he did," Martin said on "Today."

Fulton said she has faith in the justice system, even if it means that Zimmerman may walk.

"We are happy that he was arrested so that he can give his side of the story," Fulton said.

Martin added, "I think had the Sanford police department done a through and impartial investigation from the beginning, George Zimmerman would have been locked up from day one, and there wouldn't have been such a huge public outcry for the arrest."

And if they're going to suggest that Zimmerman intended to kill Martin, there is absolutely no way in hell they'll get a conviction.

That's just retarded.
