NBC sorry on Trayvon edit
NBC has apologized for the way it edited a key 911 tape in the explosive Trayvon Martin case.
The Washington Post quoted the network saying, “During our investigation it became evident that there was an error made in the production process that we deeply regret.’’
The edited version left the impression that the neighborhood watchman who killed him, George Zimmerman, was racist.
The version played by NBC quotes Zimmerman saying, “This guy looks like he’s up to no good . . . he looks black.’’
Zimmerman actually said, “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.’’
In the actual transcript, the dispatcher then asks, “Is he black, white or Hispanic?’’ Zimmerman responds, “He looks black.’’
