could be they are waiting on someone or waiting for the people in house to find something...which would be odd.

most of the people with ties to garrett are looking for work though i think.

Somebody on another board had mentioned Geep Chryst. I'd like someone a bit more veteran and established though. That is the one thing I would like about Sparano

Mainly because I want an OL coach that can develop young talent.

I know there are worse coaches out there than Sparano and I wouldn't mind adding him to the staff. He's just never really impressed me in Dallas or Miami when it came to developing young players.

My point was....he seems to get high draft picks to play well. He seems to get vets to play well. But he doesn't seem to identify and develop later round talent. Maybe it is dysfunction of the front offices in Dallas or Miami, but he hasn't ever seemed to do it.

Maybe they are just giving him shitty players.

beats me. I haven't seen the Football 101 breakdown on the influence of our OL coach over who we draft.

So is Garrett unhappy or not?

Who cares. For once, Jerry would be right. John Garrett hasn't done much of value in this league and Jason does need to have his play calling duties stripped.

I'm sure Jerry is hung up on Martellus Bennett becoming a productive member of society with the Giants, but I'm not sure the OC doesn't get part of the blame.

Garrett just doesn't seem very adaptable to me. It is almost like "Hey, this is my scheme and if you don't fit in it, too bad". I would think a good OC could get more out of a guy with the talent of Bennett. However, Bennett was a knucklehead and did spend what few chances he had in Dallas bouncing passes off his hands. I dunno. Garrett's scheme sure doesn't seem very creative to me.

I don't think it needs to be. Read an article last week about how Peyton has always kept a really simple offense, very few plays, high school style hi-lo route combinations, they just run the same plays over and over and key off the how the D plays the TE. Norv's offense is incredibly simple but he gets accolades as a coordinator everywhere he goes because of his feel for the game.

We can't execute, maybe because our shit is tooooo complicated?, and we don't have a coaching staff who can scheme to compensate for that.

I think they have to simplify the route tree the receivers are asked to run. And do away with the throws to the sideline. That's giving the CB an advantage.

I can't imagine any route tree that is too complex. I mean this is your fucking job. Almost all of them are self-explanatory and are based on a few simple rules. Our issues early in the season seemed to stem mostly from option routes where Romo expected one thing and the WR did another.

I'm not saying the WRs are having a hard time running them due to some mental glitch. I'm simply saying that these guys need to get open faster but these routes take too long to develop and look to require some fluidity. That's why Otree kept getting numerous opportunites here. He had some size and was fluid and knew how to use that to get open, when he wasn't running to the wrong spot. Miles Austin is stiff as hell and he looks like Frogger trying to get open out there.

More slants, more curls and drag routes. I remember the 90's Cowboys asked their WRs to run a lot of 15 yard outs and ins. I don't know why we don't do that here with these big-bodied, fast in a straight-line guys.

all this talk about marty b.

The giants coaches were not thrilled with him, he was a main target and was coached by maybe the best tight ends coach in the league in mike pope and its not like he was great by any stretch, the guy can not catch.

I dont even think they are going to bring him back.

on john garrett, personally i could care less. I would fire him yesterday if sporano would come coach tight ends or mularkey or cameron or whoever...

I like how we drafted fasano with a 2nd.
Immediately traded him for a 4th
Then drafted a worse TE with a 2nd

So yea once we get a better TE coach well be fine

Even though miles Austin obviously sucks it feels like we're doing more harm than good for our wr's by leaving the middle to witten only. Our wr's have less of a chance to make a play by coming back for the ball. They're supposed to be the playmakers. We all love witten but he's not changing the game on any 1 play

Damn, guys... This Stretch Smith on ESPN who has bashed Ryan since about November and said we needed to go to the 43, then called the Kiffin hire before Ryan was even fired, is now saying he's not even sure Garrett is coming back. Says he's on the fence about it.

No this Stretch guy isn't sure if he's coming back. Thinks Jerry could still fire him or he could still quit over having his playcalling stripped (which he strongly thinks will happen) and/or brother fired.
