Just an FYI
I watched both Jerry segments on special edition and watched Jason on the Jason Garrett show last night.
I think Jason is making these changes contrary to what espn jumped the gun on.
It seemed he wants to make real changes on defense and he said we have the ability to play either scheme.
Jerry said something that actually made sense for a change. Talking about not being one game away and just getting into the playoffs not being enough. Said because of the last three seasons, specifically how we played the east in the last two seasons they decided hey needed to make changes.
I got the sense that he actually understood that its going to take time and discipline to fix what's wrong.
He brought the Wildcat gimmick to the NFL which multiple teams stole.
You can't criticize a guy for poor offenses when he has no QB. Which he hasn't had.
Can you shush and let me give credit to Sparano so I can win this argument with dbair?
So this is a Jason Garrett move?
Should I feel better or worse that the last guy he picked he railroaded out of town after 2 years in spite of being a larger failure as a coordinator himself?
Or did he not pick Ryan then?
It's so confusing anymore to keep track of in what ways Jason is or isn't responsible while still attributing full autonomy to the guy as though he weren't just another Jerry hire like Wade.
As far as Jerry saying the team isn't that close, that's kind of different than what was said the other night. Saying one thing one day and the completely opposite the next isn't exactly uncharted territory for this guy so who knows what he really thinks. Jerry talks out of both sides of his mouth and then talks from his ass on top of that.
I can't remember where I saw it but he was talking about getting into the playoffs, and "once you're in anything can happen" or something to that effect.
That sounds like he thinks they're close to the playoffs and he's pretty much buying his lotto tickets to be one of the teams that sneaks in and all of a sudden gets hot.
Funny, Ben Rogers said this morning that of all the people he talks to at Valley Ranch, he can't find anyone with anything really positive to say about John Garrett's coaching.
I think Sparano is a horrible OL coach. He's never developed anyone that wasn't a first round pick. I do think he does an OK job of getting more out of veteran guys though (Colombo, Incognito, etc.). Not sure how he is as a TE coach.
He's been poor since leaving Dallas, but I can't discount how good the offense was with Garrett and Sparano working it. I'm not sure if Garrett just needs a veteran guy in his ear or if Sparano gets more credit. Something definitely needs to change with play calling though.
So get rid of him what's the big deal over a tight end coach?
Parcells was going to hire Todd dodge to be tight ends coach in 06 right out of high school like he did Charlie Weiss.
So it can't be the position holding this team back. To much is being made of this out of the hate for Jason.
I disagree.
Columbo, kosier, were excellent under sporano.
More importantly flozell Adams was a good player and the move from right guard to center for Andre gurode.
Ad he got serviceable play out of tucker and pettiti.

Please re-read my post. Especially this part:
Now which draft picks has he developed on the OL that weren't first rounders?
What do you mean, too much is being made of it... By people like me who think Garrett is a lousy coach, or by the media?
I think it's an issue because if he's not a good coach, then he's only here because of the obvious nepotism. Which is a problem.
And as far as Sparano goes, I think he's a really good coach. I remember Sham saying that he'd been told by people who'd been around here back to the Landry years that he was one of the best assistant coaches this franchise has ever had. I think his main contribution is he's the rare guy who will jump down people's throats when they screw up.
Yeah, the whole thing is less than ideal to say the least. You should hire the head coach and then let him hire whoever he wants on both sides of the ball. But Parcells is the only one other than Jimmy who's been allowed to do that.
And I don't know what all this delay is about either. Maybe there is a tug of war going on behind the scenes. But then some teams haven't even hired a HC yet, so I guess there's no real hurry.
What difference does it make?
If he can get people to play well he can get people to play well. If he can't do it with "draft picks" then those draft picks were probably really shitty players.
he didnt have any first rounders to ever work with here except columbo but that was a different situation anyway. his leg was in such bad condition i dont think where he was drafted mattered.
but flo, gurode, kosier, were not 1's. I guess leonard davis was but he was playing guard here and had a great year under sporano.
by the way, if all he gets is results is out of first rounders thats ok! Hopefully if hired he would have one more here next year or maybe a 2 and a 3 to work with along with smith and free who he knows from 07.
I think he would be good for a guy like mack. I think mack is going to be here for awhile because according to stretch smith and bryan broaddus mack was good at center for the most part. So that means he can play two positions and he is not making much money....
hey i like sporano, i am a sporano homer and if i were in this front office I would dump callahan or john garrett to hire him asap.
if we dont even talk to him and he goes to kc and we keep everythign the same that is a mistake.
