The official story is they mutually agreed to split ways.

drunken Jerry supposedly said he can win with a dozen coaches and drunken Jimmy told him to go f himself.

Had the dumbass owner not pissed off the Superbowl winning coach we would have won 4 in a row, I have no doubt about that.

He burned out.

They mutual agreed to part ways.

This is well known.

He was tired of Jerry coming down to the sidelines and meddling in his business. He didn't get up to toast with Jerry because he was tired of his shit and Jerry got his ego hurt. I don't believe for one minute Jimmy quit on the team.

Edit: Maybe they did. I was always under the impression he was fired because he hurt Jerry's massive ego.

I would hire Jerry to get whores.

He is THE super Pimp. Gets all the ass

I've met a couple people who partied with Jerry. A friend of mine was at a bar Jerry was at and said he bought roses and handed them out to all the hot girls there. Said it was so god damn funny.

Why didn't Jerry promote from within after he fired Jimmy? We had plenty of good coaches on the team. Any of them would have been better than Switzer and would have kept that same atmosphere going. That was dumb.

Wannstedt got the Chicago job after the first Super Bowl win, and Norv left for Washington right after the next Super Bowl win. Jimmy hired Zampese before he parted ways with Jerry.

Jerry had a thing for Barry going way back to his college days. I even recall hearing talk back then, I think when Wannstadt left, that Jerry wanted to hire Barry to be the DC but Jimmy would have nothing to do with it.

Jerry's just a dumbass when it comes to the football operations. We're just lucky he hired Jimmy in '89 and not Barry or we'd still be looking back at '77 for our last Super Bowl championship.

There is absolutely no truth to this and besides, Switzer's background was offense, not defense.

And Barry was never considered for the job in 1989.

Butch Johnson was there and I remember seeing him conducting practice. No nonsense guy. He could have taken a loaded team to a third straight Superbowl IMO. Anyone could have that was already in the system and did something besides stand there. Even Campo. It takes a real loser to not take advantage of what we had. Switzer let it all fall apart.

Butch Davis. He was the DL coach in 1992, and promoted to defensive coordinator in 1993 after Wanny left.

whats crazy is that in 88 Tex Schramm was going to hire marty schottenheimer with Wade phillips as his DC. The previous season Landry told Tex this was it for him and he needed to find a replacement asap.

Then Landry had a change of heart and couldnt walk away.

I wonder what would have happened.

Yeah, I saw him there in that 1994 piece. All the assistants were doing their thing while Switzer was standing alone somewhere. I'm certain that didn't help the team.

wanstedt was Jimmy Johnsons right hand man, his only real friend on the staff along with tony wise. Wannstedt leaving must have played a huge role in Jimmy wanting out at the end.

Its like when parcells was here and Pat summerall repeatedly said the man has no friends on the staff or in the area and he basically is miserable. I imagine part of that happened to Jimmy that last season also.

No Superbowls, that's for sure. The more I read about the Landry incident, the less I feel sorry for him. I hear Jerry tried to talk to him at a golf course where Landry was playing golf the weekend before he fired him but Landry literally ran away.

He didnt want it to end, I dont blame him. he was a brilliant man. The challenge of fixing the team probably was all he needed.

They wanted him gone long before jerry bought the team though. Lots of people got off easy with jerry taking responsibility as the devil on that one.

Good things always come to an end. You see dynasties across all kinds of sports and things usually end up falling apart before the run has reached the end. Same with athletes.

He was done. I remember my dad saying that the game just passed him by, and pointed to The Catch that ESPN shows twice a day as proof. He said we were in prevent defense when we shouldn't have been.
