I'm sure there are examples. I'd be happy to do the homework on it but have no idea how to find info on WHEN guys were cut and how that played out for the PS for each team
Why are you in here being so cocksure that it "happens every year" if you can't name a time it has happened?

Tomorrow we can post the entire list of everyone's cutdowns, and see if any of those guys make it back to that particular team's PS by the end of the weekend or early next week.

I'm pretty sure he misunderstood what I was saying. He was thinking any team might grab your early cut, and that's reasonable to say in fact it's not even the argument.

Meanwhile try to think of any reason or circumstance, why they didn't want to see them suit up for the final game.

I just remember reading various writers talking about early cutdowns in years past, and saying some of those guys could be brought back.

Some have cited the injury concern, some writers even stated that teams do this sometimes to try and "sneak" a guy on the PS (even though personally I don't think anyone has any real secrets or anything with this, every team has scouts looking at all these guys all the time)

These early cuts are guys they have given up on. They don't even want to see another game out of them.

You cant sign anyone to the practice squad until after final cutdowns this weekend

They have 24 hours to clear waivers before you can sign them. So you're saying they would CUT a guy today, giving the competition 48 hours to sign him, for someone they WANT on their own PS? How's that "sneaking them onto the practice squad?"

sure they could claim them on waivers and put them on their roster, but they cant sign any of these guys straight onto a PS...nobody can make any PS moves until after final cutdowns this weekend

Right. So you cut a guy today - don't want him even on the roster for the final preseason game - then for some reason re-sign him for the PS after he clears waivers?

I'm not trying to be argumentative, just trying to wrap my head around why anyone would possibly do that. There's no advantage at all, to it that I can see.

You'll have to go look at transactions from last year dbair

Not the exact scenario, but Dallas did add guys from early cuts to the PS. However it wasn't the original PS to start the season. It was after guys were cut from the PS. Jamar Newsome and Jameson konz were cut early and added to the PS after the season started

Rignt, that happens and it's not that uncommon.

This is not even the complete list of guys who will be cutdown before the deadline tomorrow, but am reasonably sure some of these guys will find their way to PS's
Only the eligible ones could. None of the veterans in that list, can.

Doyle Rules: Indy's Own Highlights 53-Man Roster Caveat

They weren't successful (The Colts grabbed him) but here is an example of a guy cut prior to final cutdowns, and that same team wanted to keep him on their PS:

But Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle’s story highlights an often forgotten caveat about the rules of this week four in the preseason.

Sometimes players aren’t just trying to make their own team. They could be auditioning for other teams at the same time.

Last season, Doyle spent training camp with the Tennessee Titans, before being waived prior to final roster cutdowns. Instead of making the 53-man active roster, the Titans opted to put him on their practice squad, but you have to clear waivers first to do that. Before Doyle cleared waivers, his hometown Colts picked him up. The pride of Cathedral High School in Indianapolis was going home.

That doesn't specify if the cut was getting them down to 75, or 53.

If you do the above - which would be great - please limit it to players eligible for the PS.

From your link:
“Going through offseason and camp with Tennessee and coming out of that fourth preseason game, you just never know what’s going to happen,” said Doyle. “I was cut, about to sign with their practice squad, and claimed here.”
He wasn't cut early. He played the fourth game.

It also says (and I bolded it) that "before being waived prior to final cutdowns"

I checked and he is in the 4th preseason game boxscore with TN, so not sure what they meant by the bolded statement

They meant he played for Tennessee in their fourth game, and therefore was not a early cut.

Then Indy grabbed him off waivers.

Maybe someone with a twitter act should post the question to Broaddus or some other NFL guy....I'm sure they know

That said, we can see if any of these guys cut today or tomorrow end back up on the same team's practice squad
