Yeah, cutting Wilson in the first round of cuts appears really stupid at this point. Not sure what the hell they are thinking with as thin we are at both LBer and DL.

Copeland almost makes me horny.

This is is the kind of hard hitting football knowledge you can't get anywhere else.

JC Copeland gives me a semi when I watch him play! Fringe fullbacks make me think about sex.

Why? The guy has proven he cant play DE and he isn't a fit at 4-3 OLB

I saw a blurb in CZ where one of the Cowboy people said the other reason they cut Wilson was due to some injury concern.

--------

This is just good old fashioned stupid. Kyle Wilber and Martez have the same problem of being able to play two positions: OLB and DE. But Wilber is one of those Jason/Jerry draft picks that they are too proud of to cut. Martez has more sacks in more limited actual NFL game time than Wilber and he is extraordinarily fast. Drives me crazy.

Except for the fact that Wilbur is a vastly better football player than Wilson is.

Wilson was absolute road kill vs the run

Guys who are cut on the Monday before first cuts are due, make the practice squad? Would love to see some examples of this.

I'm sure there are tons.

Wait a week or two and probably quite a few of these names you saw cut today around the league will be on people's practice squads. Some might not immediately be signed to PS, teams make changes throughout the season to the practice squads

I'm not so sure.

You said I need to pay more attention but you can't name even one time this has happened? I'm talking same team, not others grabbing up your cut player. The meter is, you cut the guy early then sign HIM to your own practice squad.

When they cut guys early it is not a sign they want them around - they don't want to see them even suit up for the final game. So I highly doubt they want them on their own PS.

If a guy is cut today then technically, can you sign him to the PS tomorrow? Or do you have to wait until all the cuts are made Tuesday?

You cant sign anyone to the practice squad until after final cutdowns this weekend

Again just look at that partial list I posted from today. You're telling me NONE of those guys is gonna be on anybody's PS? And that happens every yr?

There's other factors involved, what a lot of teams dread more than anything in the final preseason game is having a lot of injuries, because those players cant be cut without injury settlements. If you know for sure a guy isn't going to make the team today, part of the reason you release them is so you don't have to worry about the potential for an injury settlement from practice or the final preseason game.

For the love david... just post SOME, ANY evidence of guys who don't survive the first round of cuts for a team being brought back to that team's practice squad right away.

The teams still have 20+ guys to cut. They're not going to cut a guy earlier than they have to if they're considering bringing them back on the PS. That gives other teams extra time to bring them onto their rosters. If you want to keep a guy, you try to control his movement for as long as possible. Plus, you don't get to see them perform in the 4th preseason game. You don't make up your mind on guys this low on the depth chart early.

They may make it onto the PS later in the season if a team has a rash of injuries at one position, but it's just because they aren't picked up by anyone else.

I am not talking about other teams picking up your early cut. I am talking about the team who cut them, turning around and then signing them to their own practice squad after they didn't even want them suiting up for the last game.

I'm sure there are examples. I'd be happy to do the homework on it but have no idea how to find info on WHEN guys were cut and how that played out for the PS for each team

You actually fucking think a team is gonna cut a guy early - before the last preseason game - then re-sign that same guy to its own practice squad?

They didn't even want to see him suit up for the last game. Why the fuck would they then turn around and re-sign him?

It makes no sense at all.
