Also, I get a little chuckle out of the thought that when David hears of some fucking horrific catastrophe he's sprinting to the TV not to see what is unfolding, but to scour the news networks for the President's response.

I didn't have to scour for anything...all the networks put his comments and Hildakunt's out there for all to see right after it happened

Your hero Hoof:

After the shooting in San Bernardino, California, President Obama went on CBS News to talk about gun control. It is unclear whether there was just one shooter or multiple shooters at the time of publication, but they were reportedly still at large as Obama weighed in.

“The one thing we do know is that we have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world,” he said, during an interview with CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell. Obama argued in favor of gun control laws that he says could prevent mass shootings, including a law that would ban people on the national “no-fly list” from purchasing firearms.

“Some may be aware of the fact that we have a no fly list where people can’t get on planes, but those same people who we don’t allow to fly could go into a store right now in the United States and buy a firearm and there’s nothing we can do to stop them,” he said. “That’s a law that needs to be changed.”

Obama added that he didn’t know the motive for the shooting, but expressed “hope” that the situation could be contained. The president said in the interview that “our hearts go out to the victims and the families” but did not make any mention of prayers.

“We should never think that this is something that just happens in the ordinary course of events because it doesn’t happen with same frequency in other countries,” he concluded.

You do know who is on the no-fly list, don't you?

Muslims and other brown people. Keeping them from having guns seems like something you'd be a fan of, no?

People who have either demonstrated or been found to have, some tie to extremism - no matter religion, color or creed. There's as many redneck KKK and Neo-Nazi types in no-fly as there are "brown people" and Muslims.

Violent extremism knows no skin pigmentation.

Its part of a pretty dark agenda the extreme left has and part of a plan they started implementing a very long time ago. Unfortunately most people were asleep at the wheel when a lot of their stuff started becoming the norm.

People are still asleep at the wheel despite all the evidence to the contrary. There's a point that this shit becomes insulting tot he public. These folks are radicals and our President comes out and talks about gun control. Yeah, a lot of good it did the folks in Paris.

I don't know Dooms. The American public ostracized the radical home grown elements like the KKK a long time ago. Today's violent extremism is very much Muslim oriented. I'm not talking about some loan wolf nut job, but organized and planned premeditated attacks in the name of Allah.

Lets start with keeping them put of the country first.

I'm not arguing that at all. I am simply saying that with this administration and this agenda, no-fly does have as many rednecks, KKKs and Neo-Nazi types on it as it does possible Jihadists. It's all about political correctness, not about actually protecting the country.

How are you going to keep them from having guns Hoof? I don't think terrorists are typically walking into Cabela's to pick up their arsenal anyway.

Further, the people that did this yesterday had a house full of bombs. If they wouldn't have had guns, they'd have blown stuff up.

So when Muslims kill overseas, it's due to global warming. When they do it here, the culprit is guns, not jihad. Brilliant.

As of last night local law enforcement were still looking into the possibility that this was terrorist related. Yet Obama comes out making a blanket gun control statement. Good call there commander and chief! Way to wait for some actual facts before starting up your bandwagon again!

I live an hour from where this happened so I'm probably getting more reports that the rest of you. They didn't know shit when I went to bed last night

I'm sure they know a bit more now. But I didn't even turn on the local news this morning. It's all speculation until all the facts are in.

WTF?

It's possible it is both a terrorist issue and a gun control issue. I've yet to see a logical response from anyone (not here, literally anywhere) on what this country can do about all of the recent violence involving gun violence & shootings.

Especially when it's a state with the most stringent gun laws, all of which were followed - and the ones that might not have been? Like the restrictions on magazine capacity, and amount of ammo you can buy? Oh and, the many laws against pipe bombs and other IEDs? Well, what does that say other than criminals and Jihadists are very likely to ignore your gun laws, bomb laws, murder laws, and every other fucking law no matter how strict.

Outlawing murder never stopped murder.

Barbara Boxer just said, "Common sense gun laws do work, we have proved it here in California."

Clearly, San Bernadino is Texas to her now, or something. There's your "logical" response you're looking for.

This is what I was talking about in an earlier gun thread. Just because there are laws on the books doesn't mean that the criminal or terrorist will abide by them.

They haven't said that the guns that were used were legally obtained under CA law yet or not.

Either way, the gun laws didn't work. If they were legally obtained then the mag cap laws were not followed. If they were illegally obtained then the gun laws on the books didn't work.

This type of event is what the gun laws are designed to stop. This event happened in CA which probably has the strictest laws on gun control than any other state.

So you tell me how gun legislation in the strictest state still allowed this to happen?

As I've said before, if someone wants to commit a crime with a gun, laws will not restrict or stop them from doing so as evidenced by yesterday's mass shooting
