I think they had their battles because Malzahn wanted to throw it more, but if anything he's grown as a coach since then because now he runs it all the time himself. Using the players on your team to their particular strengths and all... That concept that is foreign to us all too often.
But he's from the state so you know Jerry knows him. Was even HC at Lacewell's old gig Arky State. :towel
Seriously though, I'm admiring these top spread-type coaches more and more, especially when they can adapt to run it like Malzahn. And he looks like more of a professor type with the little glasses but I guess he's turned into a heck of a coach.
You're right though, Garrett's gonna stay one way or another. Probably get a three-year extension. :suicide
I actually kind of feel a little bad for Garrett. He was put in a situation where he just can't win. He was underqualified and put in a situation with Jerry where he'll always be handicapped.
At the beginning of the year, I had some hope that if things went sour, Jerry would make meaningful change. I've lost that hope. He's dug in even further and running his mouth more and more.
