He didnt develop Romo. He worked with him for a couple of seasons or so. Pennington was already an excellent QB before Lee had anything to do with him.
What do you think a QB coach does? Who developed him? He has to get some credit for being Romo's QB coach when he made the transition from UDFA FCS QB to NFL benchwarmer to Pro Bowl QB. That alone is more than Wade Wilson has done ever. The closest thing to a QB ever developed under Wilson is Kyle Orton.
I dont think Wilson is great (maybe not even good) at all (seems to be verified by the fact nobody has ever requested he step up and become their OC, a logical move considering the passing game here has been good and Romo is a probowl calibar QB) but Lee is not a quality NFL coach either, and I certainly dont see where he'd be any kind of upgrade at all over Wilson.
Romo was Pro Bowl QB prior to Wilson even coming to Dallas. In fact, his first Pro Bowl season was his first year starting (2006). Guess who his QB coach was? Lee.
Wilson is a crap QB coach who inherited Romo and presided over such QB'ing wonders such as Quincy, Hutch, Stoerner and Leaf while in Dallas and Rex Grossman and Orton in Chicago. He got handed a ready made Pro Bowler in Dallas. He has, literally, done nothing in the NFL.
If you don't like Lee, fine. But he's actually done something in the NFL, unlike Wilson, and would be an upgrade there. Could you get someone better? Maybe a college OC looking to make the leap to the NFL, but I'd definitely take him over a limp dick loser like Wade Wilson.
It is almost like all the things you are trying to give Wilson credit for are things that Lee has actually done.
