I was actually wondering what Jerry was going to do for a splash this off season.

You know he has to do something to re-invigorate the fanbase.

Which makes me nervous for the draft.

He's going to try something that's never been attempted before, not knowing that those stones are always left unturned because they don't work.

He may take a linebacker in the first round and put him in Ratliff's spot. We'll have a 245 lb linebacker playing nose tackle.

Look at us everyone!

EJ Manuel, ugh.

Matt Scott maybe, but he's as tall as Romo.

I guess our only hope is for Taj Boyd to declare this year.

"I can assure our fans this, and I can assure you guys this, it's going to be very uncomfortable around Valley Ranch for the next few weeks."

it should never be comfortable around VR, imo (except after a SUper Bowl win)

Jerry interrupts "I KNOW why you ask but if I say it, it means we've had the meeting. I aint even had the meeting on it. I'm going to spend a lot of time, just so you're clear... I’m going to spend a lot of time visiting with people outside of the organization that I have a lot of confidence in that will help us evaluate how to do the things that I know what our fans want to do, and that’s not be sitting here at .500. There are a lot of teams that haven’t been at .500, but nobody hasn’t been at .500 and spent as much cash as I’ve spent."

In a very aggravated tone: "Men I told you we're not going to sit here this morning and have a meeting like this. I've got a lot of work to do. I've got a lot of people I want to speak with to have an input with this. So we're not going to have any meeting this morning that says we're gonna do this we're gonna do that. Do y'all think I'm nuts?"

"
This annoys me. Why do you need to speak with people outside of the organization? That just speaks to Jerry's inability to assess what he is seeing. No wonder Dallas has sucked forever.

well come on man that's unfair.

You can't kill him for his myopia and then when he says he's going to branch out kill him for that, too.

Jerry has been "listening" to people for years. That is one of my biggest complaints about him. Alexander posted that link to the article from SI in 2002 (I think) where it showed that whole process. Whoever he trusts, at the moment, and whoever has a good argument, at the moment, he'll listen to and move forward. Too many voices in his ear.

They need a qualified football guy at the top who has a vision for what he wants his franchise to be and works to achieve it.

Garrett may not be as safe as some believe. Just posted Werder's comments in another thread, thinks Garrett may still get fired.

Yeah, it would be nice to have an expert running the team rather than an amateur who occasionally consults experts.

just feels like criticism for the sake of criticism.

Ultimately, I'm torn...

On the one hand I want to criticize the move because Jerry is an idiot and I wish we had a knowledgeable football guy who could make his own decisions based on what he's seeing.

On the other, I'm kind of glad he recognizes he's an idiot and he's soliciting advice from others.

But damn.... makes me nervous not knowing who he's talking to. A lot of people he trusts are gawdamned idiots... (Lacewell/Switzer, etc)

Do you want Garrett as the playcaller

"We're not having that meeting. You're talking to someone who runs that meeting and so, we're not having that meeting this morning. I'm not ready to have that kind of meeting and I'm not real sure when I'll be ready to have that meeting."

Interviewer says Well the reason I ask...

"Like I said, we've been doing some of the same things. Jasons been in charge of our offense for the last 6 years. And Wade pretty much let him dictate what we were doing offensively. And we've got to look at that and say 'Hey how do we best use these assetts we got today?"

I know he's just rambling all angry like the drunk uncle at Thanksgiving dinner, but he really should listen to himself here. Ginger has been ineffective for awhile now. I don't understand where he earned the label of "offensive genius/guru" in the first place. He was QB coach for Cleo Lemon and Joey Harrington. Both of those guys were permanently out of the league after Garrett got his hands on them.

What I don't get is that if you're going to bring in a playcaller to hold ginger's hand, then what is the point in having him around at all? All you're doing now is delaying the inevitable. Philly and Chicago allowed their HCs to retool the assistants, and they finally realized that it was the HC who needed to go. 2013 will be another wasted season if we do the same.

Well, that's probably fair. I'm going to complain about Jerry when he tries to do anything football related. He's good at selling shit though.
