That is what I am hoping for and not what likely is the reality that the one thing Jerry retained from Parcells was to collect TEs like bubble gum cards.

I love how we take tight ends in the second round every other year, especially ones with IQs below 70 like Martellus Bennett.

That's how championships are built.

Brandon Moore? Please

There is probably a real reason why we haven't signed Moore. I don't think Callahan is a fan. He even tried to bench him in his final year with the Jets. I don't know why people keep hoping for him because he likely isn't on the radar.

The main foundation of being a homer for a shitty team is the actual lack of thought.

Saying Garrett and Jerry suck makes you brilliant.

There is a lot of thought in what I said and why I think the tight ends will make a huge difference in the offense this year and how they hindered the offense last year.

I Wont get any further into it, because you will just tell me Garrett sucks and something about his brother and Jerry....

So the years before that with Bennett was that much better? How about Fasano before that?

Bottomline, it's up to Garrett to make the offense work. This is his third shot at it after two pretty big whiffs.

I think the issue is people's expectations of what a two TE offense "working" looks like.

It's "worked" here for a while. Just because we've spent a second on someone doesn't mean they should be putting up big numbers or the offense is a failure.

Our failure last year was more about injuries and a makeshift Oline than any failing in our two TE offense.

The offense in 07 and 09 were excellent, the tight end group in both years was very good. Owens was great in 07, Austin in 09.

We ran the ball better both years.

This year we will have the best tight end group we have had since this started in 03. Make all the jokes about fasano, Bennett, Sean Ryan etc you want.

This is going to be a good offense and the tight ends will be a big reason.

Yeah, spending three second round choices at the same backup position doesn't mean they should be putting up big numbers or nothing, right?

The fact they won't be putting up big numbers or even on the field the overwhelming majority of the plays should mean a lot for a second round pick. Maybe we should draft a punter in the second round. That would have about as much impact on field position as Gavin Escobar will have on our ability to be successful on offense as long as Jason Witten is on this team.

Now if Garrett suddenly turns our offense into the Coryell offense of the early 1980s when Winslow and Sievers were good or he channels what Belichick is doing now, that's the only way you can tell me the kind of investments we have made with the role make any sense.

I cant wait to see the crow suppers some of you are gonna have for this yr

What kind of crow suppers?

The way some of you people are dreaming about this, it tells me you all expect this to be the Patriot offense. I feel pretty safe that Escobar won't show up and terrorize the league. I have even less confidence in Garrett's ability to make that work while also wiggling in the passes he's going to throw to Williams and oh yeah, he said he's gonna run the ball more too.

I don't have a problem with having a quality backup TE. You need that. But it is insane that you need to spend three second round picks in less than nine years to get that done.

Our tight ends being injured was huge last year.

Witten basically missed all of the preseason, Phillips had two knee surgeries he was working through and u could see he was not the same and Hanna was a rookie.

It really affected our offense.

This year we will have four good ones, I think they will be interchangeable and we will have three who can play on the line, last year we had one and he had a spleen injury and wasn't right till October.

It effects everything.

If get lucky and free has a solid season and Fredrick is the player he seems this should be an offense like 07.

Especially when you throw in who we are playing and how many points they score.

And if Callahan is running things that might even bring an extra spark.

I can't wait to watch it, I bet it comes out firing from day 1 in the summer.

Fasano and Bennett were far superior blockers to Escobar.

Nice try though.

We could have the same thing you are talking about with Hanna's natural progression IMO.

I'm sure it had some effect theebs but I think the Oline was way worse. We played musical chairs at all three interior line positions for half the season. I think health and continuity there will be way bigger than anything Escobar or Hanna can do.
