McNabb will clearly be talked about for Hall consideration,

Yes, he'll get considered. But he won't get in.

He has stats, but no real accomplishments. You can't overlook his inability to perform and the fact that he was a liability in his teams biggest games.

Jim Kelly lost 4 straight Super Bowls.. he's in. Saying he has no real accomplishments clearly shows a bias.

Listen, if some of you think he has no shot, that's fine. You're welcome to your opinions obviously. Mine is that he has both the stats and accomplishments and he will be given alot of consideration for the Hall when his career is all said and done. He's at the very least right on the cusp of it. I base that on these things:

McNabb took the Eagles to 8 postseason appearances in a span of 10 years, 4 straight division championships, 5 NFC championship games, and one super bowl. He's also a 6 time pro bowler and a NFC offensive player of the year. He also is the Eagles career leader in wins, completions, passing yards, and passing TD's, with a 2 to 1 TD/INT ratio.

He's also one of only 5 QB's ever to have over 30,000 yards passing and 3,000 yards rushing. His TD/INT ratio is second best ever behind only Tom Brady, he set the NFL all time record for consecutive completions with 24, was the first QB in history to throw for 30 TD's or more and 10 INT's or less, and has the thrid highest winning percentage among active QB's behind only Peyton and Brady.

McNabb will get in the HOF.

If you let Moon in, you have to let McNabb in.

Couldn't just be because Manning and Brady are two of the best QB's of all time could it?

Nah.. it was all because of a change in pass interference calls. You're actually getting sheep to buy into this theory too. Unreal.

Brees set a record in completions? Look how many passes he attempted! Compare that to passes attempted by other Hall QB's season to season. Lord, its like no one pays attention to the details.

This isn't even an argument. You are trying to dismiss a shift in stats because Manning and Brady were involved? They were around before the shift as well so that argument holds absolutely no weight. Check the other link and see how 15 of the 20 career leaders in QB rating were still active in 2009. Dan Marino, one of the guys in the GOAT conversation, is 19th on the list behind McNabb, Garcia, Pennington, Schaub, Palmer and Big Ben.

You can also look at the graph that show the change in attempts per game. There are peaks and valleys in the '90s and '00s but it hovers steadily around the 32.5 mark.

And you can look at the completion percent and see how it has steadily risen over the history of the league.

Here is the link again if you missed it. It supports everything I have said and nothing you have said.

Why are you hung up on his HoF status? The argument is the future of his career. He can't move as well and has fitness and injury concerns, these are facts that you have not debated so we are putting them in the vault. I also said he hasn't been a strong passer, which you tried to debate with his "near HoF numbers." If you shuck away the stats that do not matter for a passer (not a QB, a passer) he is clearly below the acceptable threshold for the NFL. He plays in a pass friendly offense yet cannot get it done in any statistical category except INT rate. Why is his INT rate so good? Because is was always too scared to throw into tight coverage. He would look for his safety valve or just throw it away.

I don't care if he gets into the HoF, I respected his abilities throughout most of his career and I think he and McNair are on the fringe of yea/nay. My point is he is on the decline, does not have the passing ability to warrant him sticking around in the NFL, and does not have "near HoF numbers" in the passing game.

He had a low INT rate because he was smart not to throw into tight coverage when you had crap receivers like he did. You're supposed to do what he did and look for your checkdowns if you don't have someone open, and that's what he did, and he made his team very successful doing so. 8 out of 10 years in the playoffs. You make it sound like a bad thing that he knew when to throw it away or checkdown.. ridiculous.

So bottom line here, is you think he's on the cusp of making the Hall, I think the same. You think he's on the decline however, and i don't think there's anyway you could qualify that statement based on his last few seasons. Lets just leave it at that.

Sweet thread. I especially like this post.

I wouldn't put any stock into any decision Shannahan made last year. He and his son fielded a three ring circus instead of a football team.

One bad year with a joke of an organization like that doesn't mean you're on decline, imo. You people look at the moves that have been made instead of his play. He had a couple of his strongest years with the Eagles before they traded him, and then one down year with that joke of a franchise. If he gets traded to a team with some weapons.. watch out. Vikings would be one i wouldn't wana see him on.

That didn't work out so well.

It did not.. of course it didn't help that when they got him they also got rid of their best WR, but even still, he hasn't done well.
