I'm a truth teller.

95% of the membership on all these boards are nothing more than fanatic homer fans incapable of looking at the team objectively. They come to these boards to be fed a banquet of bullshat about how good everything is presently.

Like Mikey Winicki. Making excuses and hoping the proven fact that the Cowboys have the worst cap situation in the NFL goes away.

Right now we have $94 million base salary committed to 48 players. Spin it how you want, that is bad. I can only see about $20m in cuts (and that is disregarding dead cap space) but we would have to replace those players somehow and we still need to re-sign some key FAs.

Cold hard facts.

But let's pretend we have to wait for the "dust to settle". All kinds of imaginary things can happen to make those numbers disappear. You call yourself a fan of the team?

I find it hard to believe that some magical moment is going to happen that will make us okay financially.

Bottom line is that we are screwed. And like SBK said, releasing players will just create more need. Cut Olshansky? Now we need another defensive end. Cut Newman? There goes our depth at corner. Its a cycle that we have been going through for far to long under the Jones family.

Washington manages to slash 10 mil from their payroll almost every year. You just need to be creative about the cap. I'm not creative with money, especially contracts, so I have no idea how to do that.

Yeah, it's a horrible strategy, especially if you keep doing that every year.

Well then why bother to release players period? Let's keep Snesabaugh and Ball. We can get by without Olshansky, it's foolish to call for getting rid of Newman.

Not true. Year in and year out they restructed contracts to get under the cap. In fact, no team has went to their players with hat in hand to restructure as much as the Redskins.

Nope. We're still in the worst cap shape of any team in the league.

Sure we are dipshit...

We dont even have a cap right now, so speculating on what "cap shape" we will or wont be if/when a new one is in place is pretty lame, but thats what I expect from you

There's not a better cap guru than Stephen Jones, I trust he'll have a plan in place so we have flexibility

It doesn't matter if there's a cap right now. There will be one when a new CBA arrives. And the Cowboys do have more salary committed to this overrated roster than any team in the league.

Hence the worst cap shape.

Stephen Jones is shat. He hasn't done a thing to warrant anyone's praise. This team is loaded with bad contracts.

I believe they did that just last year.

No. It's been a long practice with the Redskins. It didn't just start last year. Since Snyder took over the team, year after year---because of his WIN NOW mentality, he brings in these high-priced and aging free agents and would have to go to this player and that player and ask them to restructure so that they can get under the cap to sign X-player,

Do we have a high cap number? Yes. Highest in the league.

Still, call me a homer, but I'm not going to gnash my teeth over such an ambigious and foggy situation. Too many variables need to be settled in the coming months before I get overly concerned on any of this.

And I trust in Stephen. He's one of the best in the business.

I'm no cap expert, but last year seemed like a great time to redo some deals and front load those deals into the uncapped year. I'm not sure how much you could have gotten away with, but there was probably enough wiggle room in the rules to improve your cap situation.

Our cap guru(s) treated it like any other year. In fact, Jerry or Stephen was quoted saying as much.

Why not take advantage?

I'll tell you why. Jerry and his braintrust had their mind on one thing. Teh superbowlz at mah house. Nevermind the declining offensive line or the piss poor play we've been getting at both safety positions. Nevermind all that. The roster is set for the immediate future and all those players fit under the cap now.

Retarded.

lol Not if he continues to show cap numbers like the one we have now.

You don't think Stephen has done a good job managing the cap, as of late?

Has there ever been an instance where we've been able to sign a player the team has coveted?

Have we ever had to cut a player for the sole reason we could not manage his cap number?

I'm sure you'll wait for sbk92 to respond first. I get that you formulate your opinions based upon what he says. Got to make deddy proud!

F you asshole.

And no I don't have to wait for sbk, There's already proof he can't manage the cap just read the article.

I know you love Jerry and I know you had a hard on for Wade before. So your just the basic Joe fan who just sits there and wonders if a guy like Stephen can manage the cap, when I already know he can't.

Oh, and don't be mad at me, because sbk doesn't talk to you. :jerkoff

All I'm saying is being in the hole 153 million is no way to manage a cap.

You failed to answer any of my rather elementary questions. Interesting.

Is this a joke? I actually prefer that he gives me the silent treatment. lol

I'm simply mocking you because, lets just say, your opinions are easily molded by others.

Happy posting.
