Cowboys and Sensabaugh nearing agreement on five-year, 22.5 million extension

I obviously hate this move but I am curious to see what some fans see in Sensabaugh. What about him makes you feel he was worthy of an extension. What about Gerald Sensabaugh makes you feel he "solidifies" the position?

Sometimes I really think some of you would root for Bin Laden if he wore the Star. No objectivity at all. If Jerry signs or drafts a player, it is a great move. If he decides to go with an unproven player (Alan Ball in 2009, Bill Nagy & Phil Costa in 2010) you guys applaud it and then throw those players under the bus a year from now when they have proven they were not good enough.

I seriously want to see your answers regarding Sensabaugh.

I see safety who has stopped TE's from killing us like they did before he signed. I see a safety who when paired with a average safety has has been pretty good in his play and was paid average money.

Sensabaugh has been the safety on some above average defenses the only time he has had questionable play is when paired with Ball.

Now why don't you tell me why he is so terrible and please tell me when he quit in a zone defense.

Lotta great debating in this thread. I do love the debates. I also respect the opponents who can keep it in the debate and still respect each other. I don't ones who can't.

It's like an Admin of a rival forum who constantly lies and creates overblown stories to pump up his ego and internet facade. I don't condone being fat and a liar in any fashion, nor do I go seeking controversy on rival forums. I pity those who choose to associate with a person who can't even fit through an average sized doorway, when here they have better discussions and content without that kind of association at the Staff level.

Other than Goldson, not sure any of those guys are upgrades over Sensabaugh, and some of them have more questions than answers.

That's not the issue here. The issue is that we don't have to attach ourselves to these guys for more than 1 year, and would still get near, or better the production that Sensabaugh gives us.

So it belies the lie that it would take too much to replace Sensabaugh.

But that didn't have anything to do with a new scheme that was incorporated despite having the same secondary coaches from a year ago. Naaaaaahhhhhs

Gerald Sensabaugh

I like how Sensabaugh has played this season, even though the stats don’t necessarily back me up. He has given up nine completions on 11 attempts—good for an 81.8-percent completion rate.

That in itself wouldn’t be that bad if the majority of the throws were short, but they’ve totaled 122 yards. He has 17 tackles and hasn’t missed a single one, though

2010: In 2010, the Cowboys once again tendered and signed Sensabaugh to a 1-year deal, worth $1.8 million. His rushes were increased to 9 and he actually recorded 2 sacks. He also intercepted 5 passes on the year, including 4 from Thanksgiving until the end of the year. If he is kept out of man-to-man downfield, he is fine. Nate Burleson of Detroit did demonstrate that he could be exposed in that regard. Overall, a criticism of Sensabaugh is that he doesn't have the cover skills to be a proper Free Safety. But, as a Strong Safety, he does not possess the demeanor or ability to be a big hitting strong safety in the box. On his sack of Brett Favre, he has every chance to put a giant hit on the QB, but rather eases him to the ground. The same happened in Week 6 against Eli Manning. After that game, he commented about how he was unwilling to risk a fine and pay $50,000 if the NFL deemed his hit illegal. In 2 years as the Cowboys starting Strong Safety, where he has started 31 of 32 games, he has forced 0 fumbles. In short, he seems to be a "finesse" SS, or a SS who does not enjoy hitting. Perhaps his lowlight of the year was when he allowed Mario Manningham a free pass to the end-zone on Monday Night Football with a "practice speed" attempt at tackling the WR at the 9 yard line. He does offer solid special teams contributions which also should not be dismissed.
