Sensabaugh isn't a ball-hawk. Sucks in coverage. Not a great tackler. What the fuck do you guys see in him that makes you think he's irreplaceable?

On second thought, shut the fuck up, I don't even want to read it.

Nobody has ever said he was irreplaceable but thanks for going way over the top in what other have said about him.

He is worth the money he got and it helps the team have some stability back there while trying to upgrade the other spot.

But hey this causes us to miss out on the stud George Butler Dammit.

What has me angry is the fact that we've been trying to fill the void that was Darren Woodson's exit since forever, yet are choosing to remain with the status/average quo. It could be worse, but it also could be a hell of a lot better.

You can sign a safety to a one-year deal and get near, or equal to the production that Sensy brings. Hell, try spending a draft pick on one more often than once every 5 years. Draft 2 if you have to and bring in more UDFAs. And here's a shocker, draft a safety within the 1st 3 rounds *gasp*

So in my mind there was no reason, at all, to extend Sensabaugh so soon.

I obviously hate this move but I am curious to see what some fans see in Sensabaugh. What about him makes you feel he was worthy of an extension. What about Gerald Sensabaugh makes you feel he "solidifies" the position?

Sometimes I really think some of you would root for Bin Laden if he wore the Star. No objectivity at all. If Jerry signs or drafts a player, it is a great move. If he decides to go with an unproven player (Alan Ball in 2009, Bill Nagy & Phil Costa in 2010) you guys applaud it and then throw those players under the bus a year from now when they have proven they were not good enough.

I seriously want to see your answers regarding Sensabaugh.

cmd, their mindset is that it's way too much work to get another safety with all the other players we have to re-sign. I seriously doubt that they think Sensy is all that, and are only trying to satisfy this move in their own minds because that's what homer lifers do. I mean we have dbair's stamp of approval already, "If Ryan and Garrett does it, then it must be right!". Which he applies liberally to everything that the Cowboys do *insert whatever coach is in charge*.

btw, there is no more deserving player of the Cowboys' Ring of Honor than Darren Woodson. He's been a beacon of light to the Cowboys' safety position for near on a decade.

Good signing for that sort of money. 4 mil per is right for a competent safety. Sensabaughs having a good year, has gone out and earned it this season, hopefully he keeps it up. If he does, we made a good deal. If he doesn't, it blows. Welcome to the gamble of NFL contracts, keep acting like it's some precise science that we keep fucking up, melvins.

He is good in coverage, a good tackler, good teammate, smart and comes at a bargain. Plus after years and years of watching poor safety play, he is not a liability. He has made a number of plays this season. INT against Detriot, created a fumble against the Skins, ect. I also do not recall him giving up any deep plays. He is a solid starter and loves playing for the Cowboys (why he didn’t wait for a better deal).

He is good in coverage, NO, especially not deep coverage a good tackler Yes, good teammate not when he quits on plays or zones out which he does way too often , smart prove it and comes at a bargain. Plus after years and years of watching poor safety play, he is not a liability. How so? He has made a number of plays this season. INT against Detriot, created a fumble against the Skins, ect. How many times has he been burned deep this season? Quitting on plays is pure speculation on your part. Smart as in knowing his assignments and picking up Rob Ryan’s complex defense. Again, show me where he is failing to do so. Opponents are not game planning to attack Gerald Sensabaugh much like they used to with past safeties.

Alot of bitching for 8 million guaranteed and only about 4.5 million a year for a guy most agree has been playing well this year.

Dude, what about this do you not get?

he didnt sign some astronimical deal. He signed an average contract for an average starter. It doesnt mean he cant or wont ever be replaced. It means they go into 2012 without one more obvious hole that HAS to be filled from outside, and they did it with a relative bargain. Even if eventually he doesnt start, his cap charges are manageable enough that he could remain as a backup and core special team player.

re: bigboi

Dashon Goldson
Reggie Nelson
Mike Adams (Cleveland Brown S)
Bryan Scott (Buffalo Bills S)
Tyvon Branch

We could sign Tanard Jackson or Brandon Merriweather to 1-year deals too.

We'll be able to get along w/o Geraldo. Too bad Jerry has made it a moot point.

Other than Goldson, not sure any of those guys are upgrades over Sensabaugh, and some of them have more questions than answers.

Sensabaugh tested the market and got zero takers. There was no need to give him an extension at all. Mat McBriar, Laurent Robinson, a healthy Tony Fiametta, Abram Elam, and even Anthony Spencer are all much more deserving of new deals than Sensabaugh.

No way on Elam, he's been pretty bad back there and hasnt made any plays.

Robinson is a must keep, McBriar would be a nice keep. Not sure about Fiametta yet, he just cant seem to stay healthy and needs to show that he can before I throw any money long term into him, especially when we just drafted Chapas (who did play well vs Arizona)

No way would I keep Spencer with anything other than a bargain deal like Sensabaugh got, or preferably just a 1 yr deal.

Lotta great debating in this thread. I do love the debates. I also respect the opponents who can keep it in the debate and still respect each other. I don't ones who can't.

It's like an Admin of a rival forum who constantly lies and creates overblown stories to pump up his ego and internet facade. I don't condone being fat and a liar in any fashion, nor do I go seeking controversy on rival forums. I pity those who choose to associate with a person who can't even fit through an average sized doorway, when here they have better discussions and content without that kind of association at the Staff level.

I stand up for what I preach here. Many can respect it. Why should I care about those who can't?
