So would you rather take the unknown over the the 3 Superbowl wins?
Hard question to answer.
I really loved those three Super Bowls.... but did the enjoyment I felt during that four year stretch outweigh the perenial disappointment and agony I've felt since?
I'll say this... I like Jerry Jones attitude in that he loves his franchise, and he wants badly to win.
But I hate that his desire for credit and the spotlight undermines his efforts to win, and his failure to recognize that he's the dominant cause of our failures.
Seriously, you put his want to, and his willingness to spend... and you marry that with a quality structure where your team is led by respected football guys, and we'd be perennial contenders.
And not pre-season hype, Hard Knocks contenders.
We'd be year in and year out deep runs in the playoff contenders.
But his unwillingness to do that. His insistance of blowing smoke about how close we are. His belief that it's not the personnel. His belief that he's the GM, and his guidance gives the team the best shot, etc.... that all causes me to hate the guy.
I'm not sure if I'd trade 3 Super Bowls for the unknown.
I do know that as a fan today, I couldn't really give a shit what we did 20 years ago.
I don't turn my television off after another gutwrenching December collapse and think to myself, "Yeah, but that 1992 was special man!"
