Your way is the only way, Sheik.

They are the same way. They're just too stupid to know it.

They only love the players because they have played for the Cowboys.

It just shows why the owners need to dig in their heels and really make this a long work stoppage. The players even have the fans thinking they are the league. Time for a wake up call. They are shat. Nothing without the team. They come and go and don't matter in ten years.

I have a problem with the "the players are the league" arguement. Players come and go every year. The teams are the only constant. I tune in to watch the Dallas Cowboys, not so and so who plays for the Cowboys.

The players aren't the league, moron.

You don't root for the players. You just think you do. You root for the teams. I don't give two f'n shats who is wearing the uniform. I only care that our uniforms win.

There is no pro football team in Portland, and though most locals hate Seattle (little brother complex, it seems) they watch the Seahawks instead of the local semi-pro teams. Why? Because of the level of talent on the field.

If the NFL gets rid of the current players and hires all new players the talent level and competitive balance of the league will suffer greatly. Those old players will go somewhere and all of a sudden the NFL has competition for fans. If you can take your family to see the replacement Cowboys play for $500 or see Romo and Ware play for a smaller league for $200 which one are you going to choose? I am going for the cheaper, more entertaining game because in the end it is the experience that I am a fan of, not some billion dollar corporation.

I don't think it would ever get that far. I'd love it, but I doubt it.

Let's say the NFL owners told the players/union to GTFO, I think you'd see the players funnel back to the NFL once they were no longer affiliated with the union. JMO. The NFL would still be the best offer on the table for them financially.

This league was built by "Joe the garbageman" types.

I don't give a shit about any player in this league other than how he's playing at his position for my favorite team. WIll I root for a player to do well? Sure. That helps the cause. If said player was traded tomorrow, he would then be asked to go F himself by me.

I root for the Cowboys. I'm not saying my way is the only way, but it is my way.

You root for the Cowboys because they have the best players in the world playing on their team. If they took them away and used replacement players who could never measure up to the talent or do the things on the field that current Cowboys players (and players across the NFL) can do, you wouldn't care as much.

Plain and simple. You don't watch just because its a football team in Dallas.

An all time gem.

So you're saying if they used replacement players, you'd care just as much about the team and the game? You'd spend just as much money to go see them, buying merchandise, etc..?

I already know that's complete bullshit.

Ultimately they can. They could shut the whole thing down and start a different league if they really wanted. Nobody could stop the league from folding if that's what the owners decided on.

We all know it isn't going there, just saying.

Besides the "law of common sense" btw.. there is also a law against collusion, and interstate commerce laws that would prevent the NFL from shutting down. So again, NO the owners can not do whatever they want.

You can bet your buttcheeks that if the NFL tried to shut down business that would be just ANOTHER court case that they would lose quickly.

Yes. That's what I'm saying. If the league folded and started over again with all new players, my fan interest in the Dallas Cowboys wouldn't change at all.

Not only wouldn't it phase me, I'd vote for it right now.

There are no posters up on my wall. Maybe that's the issue.

Uh, I'm no legal expert like RoytheDipshat over there, but I'm pretty sure no court can prevent a sports league from folding up shop.

Maybe it would be a few year process with contracts honored or something, but this notion that the players have a right to play in the National Football League is a crock of shat.

Everybody love Tony Romo?

Why?

Because he plays for the Cowboys. If he played for Denver, you wouldn't care about him. While the Denver fans who don't care about him now would all love him as a Bronco.

You root for teams. You just think you root for players.
