but but but...I thought Fat Mike was their guy?
Tomlin publicly announced this week "don't bother" when trying to trade for him.No trade clause doesn't mean trade is impossible, it means Tomlin has yea or nay on any possible deal.
Oh yeah I agree on the Fat Mike part. Tomlin actually said something like "don't waste your time" which is pretty direct.Tomlin publicly announced this week "don't bother" when trying to trade for him.
But again, if Fat Mike is "their guy" why are they out there inquiring about trading for another Mike.
I can't say that it's made any real difference over the years but I have long been a proponent of the league ending all this assistants interviewing during playoff nonsense.
Nobody can convince me that it isn't at least SOME sort of a distraction. Time has to go into prep for these and if I were an owner and HC I'm pretty PO'd that a guy on my payroll is taking time to sell someone else on hiring him as a HC elsewhere. 100% focus should always be on the team you work for and doing everything you can to help that team win.
This is an easy fucking fix and has been forever. Just put a rule in place that says no coaching changes and interviews can take place until AFTER the Super Bowl. Then everybody is on the same playing field. Nobody is missing out on a potential job and no teams have to sit there and wonder if their coaches are completely focused on the task at hand.
It's complete bullshit. There's no legitimate reason it shouldnt be set up this way.
