I hate trading up, not you or the sentiment of your post amigo.

You want to use a sniper rifle, I want a shotgun. I simply dont trust the buffoon lead Cowboys not to fuck up a pick this costly so I'd prefer many picks to increase the odds of success.

Its as if you believe that by merely using a top 5 pick, you will land a franchise QB. Goff or Wentz may turn out to be just that but I'm skeptical, especially at the cost of giving up next years first plus who knows what else.

IMO, the talent makes the pick, the pick doesn't make the talent.

On a side note, just found this little gem for anyone who wants to argue against the notion that jerri won super bowl XXX with Jimmys talent:

Sure, It was with Jimmys (Johnsons) team but we didn't screw it up - YouTube

PS, if Romo goes down again, I don’t care if Moore is the QB because the coaching staff is obviously incapable of coaching up a team to eek out wins in Romos absence. So I’d prefer them to lose all their games and get another high pick in the process (which is abnother reason I don’t want to give up next years first because I think there’s a good chance it will be a high pick).

If Romo misses a substantial amount of time this season, they wont be going anywhere anyway and at this point in Romo and Wittens career, I’m only interested in making a run for a super bowl, not one and done, so go big or suck big time (watching jerri squirm lessens the pain)

Plus if Moore has to play, it should reveal once and for all what he can or cant do and force them to move on from him asap (or perhaps he shocks everyone and plays well)

Sucking with Moore may also force Garrett out the door which I know a lot of people think is a good thing

I don't need to see Kellen Moore play anymore to see what he cant and cant do. Nobody does.

Been told multiple times that Carson Wentz and Jared Goff graded out higher for a number of teams than Mariota and Winston did last year.

Given how well Mariota and Winston played for their squads last year, the hype around Wentz and Goff makes a ton of sense.

Yep, Dilfer said if the Cowboys land Hackenberg at the top of the 3rd rd he'd be "the pick of the draft"

Gruden loves Connor Cook. problem with us getting Cook is I bet we'd have to move up from 34, because there are several teams in the 20's (and potentially #31 Denver) that might take him too.

I don't think we HAVE to get a QB with our first pick, but if we have the opportunity to get to #2 (or 4 if one of them falls in our lap) without sacrificing this years 34th overall at least we KNOW we are getting one, and getting one of the top prospects at the position too.

The problem with waiting is we cant control what other teams do. There's quite a few teams late first (Bills, Jets, Steelers, Cardinals and Broncos) that all could take a QB. Then you have the Browns to worry about at the top of the 2nd if they don't get one in the first.

I feel your concern, I'd be willing to bet either Cook, Hackenberg or Lynch would be available for one of the picks Dallas would have if they made the trade with Tennessee outlined above and probably one or more would be available at 34.

If the scouts feel he has the potential, I wouldn't mind Lynch at 15 and have the extra picks to fill other spots

In that trade scenario, they should be able to get a QB prospect and some pretty good prospects with their other picks. I like the idea of 5 picks from 15-67 (like 5 picks from 15-45 better). Walking away with a QB (Cook or Lynch), Henry, Kevin Dodd, ?? & ?? intrigues me, but like I've said, I dont know squat about evaluating talent.

Couple of blurbs from Mosley's recent chat. The bolded statement should bother everyone who's a fan of this team. Its not hard to see what Mosley is hinting at there.

Question: Isn't the Rams/Titans trade a cautionary tale about how much you have to sacrifice in order to move up the draft to take a QB? What strategy would you take in finding a Romo replacement?

Matt Mosley: I would never give up that much for a Goff or Wentz. Not sure you'd do for any prospect in the aftermath of the RG3 fiasco. The Cowboys now can zero in on Connor Cook and some of the quarterbacks who might be available in the second and third rounds. Maybe the Rams did Jerry a favor. I think he was incredibly uneasy about taking a QB at No. 4 when Romo still has a couple years left. He feels so much loyalty to Tony, and that's a bit of an issue right there.

Question: Since the top 2 QB options appear to be out of Cowboys' reach at No. 4, do you think they're taking a much harder look at Paxton Lynch or somebody else?

Matt Mosley: I don't think Lynch will fall into the second round. I noticed Todd McShay had him going 37th overall. That seems highly unlikely given the desperation for quarterbacks. This organization seems split right now on Connor Cook. There are folks in the building who think he could be a second-round talent. There are others who wouldn't want him anywhere before the fourth round. It's an internal debate right now. Dr. Draft will try to keep you posted on that front.

Peter Kings says Jerry liked what he saw but he forgot to mention that what Jerry saw was new unopened bottle of Johnny Walker Blue.

I have a feeling once Wentz and Goff go one and two that the QB race of 2016 will die down. Lynch goes late first or maybe early second. Then the rest fall wherever. Then it business as regular and the race for defensive studs becomes the hot pick. Then the rest of the QB class become afterthoughts where everyone waits to use a flyer to take one

Maryland CB Sean Davis has a meeting with the Cowboys. Cowboys sent people to Maryland Pro Day. Maryland DE Yannick Ngakoue also to work out for them.
