I think they would have paid him, but he got probably more than double what he worth via the stupid deal the Texans signed him to.

Good for him for getting it, but that contract is one of the more ludicrous in league history.

It just shows you the desperation of teams who don't have a QB.

Its another reason why I absolutely condone them potentially trading up to #2 now to ensure they get a QB if (IF) they truly believe that guy is a legit quality long term answer at QB.

Clemson DE's. Either of these guys would be nice additions IMO.

Florida SS Keanu Neal. Watch the hit he puts on Derrick Henry at about 3:47. Definitely has the looks of a SS that can actually tackle, unlike our current #42

That's why I said if they really wanted to keep Osweiler they would have tagged him and just gave Miller his money. That way they're only on the hook for 1 more year before signing him long term or not. Houston or any other team wouldn't have had a shot at him. The fact they didn't tells
me they really didn't think he was the guy. If you ask me he's got Scott Mitchell written all over him.

The NFL nEtwork stated that we were in talks to trade up to one and could now be looking to trade up to two

Sorry, I forgot who on the network mentioned it

Yeah the story about poking around #1 came out a few days ago, but the people that cover the team said it didn't get very involved because of the price tag.

I think this trade up to #2 stuff is more conjecture than anything else.

I heard the Eagles were in talks to move up to #1 but got outbid by the Rams. Didn't hear anything about Dallas moving up to #1.

Romo won't last 5 yrs, and even if he did I bet he misses at least a full season or more games total between now and then.
That's the hope anyway.

No, it was just talking head speculation.
It just shows you the desperation of teams who don't have a QB.
Which is right where you're gonna be with whatever QB we take in this top five, regardless of how much Romo plays.

If they really like him they'll franchise him.
We really liked Murray. Didn't use the tag on him. Yeah, i know we used it on Dez but as I said at the time, should have used it on Murray and done a deal with Dez.

They didn't really want to keep Murray though, not unless is was for below market value.

Told by #Cowboys source they think #Rams taking Wentz, Goff interest is "legitimate" workout not a smoke screen.

The difference on the trade chart between 2 (2600) and 4 (1800) is 800 points, which is equivalent to the 21st overall pick. Assume we gave them our 2nd round pick (560), we'd still need to give them our 3rd, or next year's 2nd.

If they were convinced the guy they were getting at 2 was a potential franchise QB, they could probably get the deal done by offering our 1st this yr and next yr and maybe our 3rd or 4th rd pick this year. Or maybe something like 4th this yr and next yr. Its doable.

I'd hate to see us part with the 34th pick, I'd much prefer to trade next years first.

I'd do it for Goff, but not Wentz.

I think both of them will be good. Both of them are also vast improvements over what we have here now.

The better way to think about it is if you look 2017 and 2018 drafts, the QB position looks incredibly poor. Lets say maybe one guy from each of those drafts emerges as "the" guy (which right now looks like wishful thinking). If we go back to 8-8 we'll be drafting somewhere in the teens. For us to get into the top-5 (or worse, have to contemplate doing what the Rams just did from a similar spot to get to #1) look at what the cost is/would be. Look what the Rams just paid.

This is also the wrong draft to trade up, we should be acquiring more 2nd and 3rd round picks. We tend to go against the grain so it wouldn't surprise me at all.

There definitely appears to be good depth of talent in rounds two and three, that's why I'd be super sensitive in wanting to give up this years 2nd (34th). If they could move up to get their guy but keep the 34th, we should get a good player there or potentially be able to move back some from that pick, maybe re-coup a 3rd (if we used that as part of the trade up) or some other middle round picks.

We gotta have a QB. We have a broken down soon to be 36 yr old who hasn't played 16 games in a season since 2012. It crippled the team last year when we lost him. If he goes down again, do you feel good about Kellen Moore or Jameil Showers coming in? How about Dak DUI Prescott or Jeff "I cant cut it in the SEC" Driskell? (or somebody like those guys)

Of course the other option is if they don't trade up, sit there at 4 and take Paxton Lynch. Ideally you'd move down to get him, but SF & Philly could both take him behind us.

On Murray the boys made the right move. the history of what happens to backs that got that much work in one year is daunting- gambling that Murray would be an exception was not the smart decision. From what I saw of him last year he did not look as good as he did with us and I took into account he was in a different system and everything else. I saw a Back that had been over used.

I agree. It's funny because that's the plan Jimmy had with Emmitt. Run him into the ground and then draft another one a few years later. Emmitt just turned out to be special and rarely ever got hurt or wore down. Or when he did get hurt he had an unbelievably high pain threshold.

Could be an Aaron Donald type.

He's pretty impressive, and he's another guy you could move all over the DL.

If he were there at 34 I'd have to give him some real consideration for us:

Strengths Weaknesses
STRENGTHS: The broad-shouldered defender was asked to line up at virtually every spot along Florida's defensive line, but projects best as a base defensive end in the NFL, exhibiting the length, strength and toughness to intrigue scouts from 4-3 and 3-4 schemes, alike. Bullard is appropriately named as his game is about bullish power. He flashes an explosive burst off the ball, and does a nice job of getting his arms into passing lanes to distract quarterbacks.

Bullard's value lies in his ability to hold up at the point of attack in the running game. Exhibiting impressive lower-body strength, he anchors well and has the length to set the edge and keep containment responsibilities. He doesn't possess Dexter Fowler's nimble change of direction or explosive closing speed, but locates the ball quickly and shows good strength to latch on and drag down ballcarriers in his vicinity.

He also will receive praise from NFL scouts for his willingness to play through pain and still make an impact as a senior.

WEAKNESSES: Has a tendency to stand too upright and shows less-than ideal lateral agility to create space between he and blockers, limiting his ability to create a lane for himself to pursue the quarterback. High cut and plays with lower-body stiffness, showing some 'tweener traits. Overaggressive downhill and doesn't consistently come to balance in pursuit. Plays through pain, but often banged up and medical reports will be important.

IN OUR VIEW: Bullard is a classic two-gap run-stuffer with size, physicality and a blue-collar playing style. Teams will appreciate his no-nonsense game along with his positional and schematic versatility to play outside or inside. Bullard will attract some first-round attention.
