Yep, we can do whatever we want in free agency.

Apparently, we want to be a worse team.
That 12-4 record shows that they are good enough to let everybody walk. They had too much spare talent on the team. I have never seen a team do nothing to improve and watch solid players walk out the door when they have the cap space to resign or upgrade the roster. 8-8, here they come. Don't want to spoil the fans with too much success .

We singed a fullback, Jnday. Recognize.

But seriously, it looks really bad right now. I'm not freaking out, but a lot of key pieces have slowly fallen away. I don't think there's enough free agents or draft picks to make up for what they've lost.

Not talking about losing superstars, but just solid role players that fit here. Carter, Durant, harris(meh), I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. And Murray. Good decision to let him walk IMO. I really don't see a fit there in Philly. Maybe if they went for a ball control offense, but if they still plan on keeping the ball for 18 minutes a game, I don't see Murray having an impact.

I'm just curious what the backup plan is.

It wouldn't surprise me if they think Ryan Williams is the guy. It'd be a huge mistake, IMO. But not a surprise.

The Philadelphia Eagles are working behind the scenes to trade two-time Pro Bowl guard Evan Mathis, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports via Marc Sessler of NFL.com. This according to a source.

Mathis and the Eagles have been here before after coach Chip Kelly announced at last year's NFL Annual Meeting that the veteran blocker could be had in a trade.

The Miami Herald on Thursday named the Dolphins as one of the squads in contact with the Eagles about a potential swap.

Mathis started 47 games between 2011 and 2013, but saw most of last year cut short with the sprained MCL that landed him on IR-Recall.

They have lacked decent role players for years. They get a few ,then let them walk. The losses are gonna hurt, book it. The players are not available to replace them.

@PatKirwanCBS: I hope the Cowboys sign Trent Richardson to a minimum deal on a 1yr deal and give him a chance to reinvent his career

I'm going str8 5 year old here. If we don't get a proven back and a pass rusher, I'm throwing a fucking fit. Like full on rolling on the floor at Kmart because I can't get a new He-Man.

He had a great season in a contract year.

My thoughts too. The guy was often injured and nothing really major if I remember right.

That broken hand last year would have sidelined him for a month in years past. I'd put the over under at 12 games started for Philly next year.

Me too, Pat. And still draft a guy early too.

NFL on ESPN ‏@ESPNNFL 8m8 minutes ago
Trent Richardson averaged the 2nd worst yds-per-carry in NFL history among players with 500+ attempts (since 1970): 3.31 yds/att

I'm still holding out hope for Hardy. The hope is fading, but it's still there.

Hardy and Peterson(somehow) or Spiller/draft pick.

I don't think you can go into this thing hoping Ryan Williams can hold up.

This team is a running team now. Need a dependable back. Needs to be able to pass block too.

We're fucked.

I don't want Peterson. Well, not unless he comes fairly cheap. I had rather go to the draft for RBs and spend the money on our defensive front 7.

id be fine with Peterson if it didn't come at the cost of missing out on Hardy(if he's an option), Peterson would be a perfect fit in this offense. Threat to break an 80 yard run at any moment. He's not getting caught by a defensive lineman who takes a good angle.

If you can fit Peterson and Hardy under the cap, I make that happen yesterday.

It'd be the perfect "Fuck you, Murray. Rot in Philly." message.

What does this mean? Seems like way too much regardless.

Also, not worried in the slightest about Murray being an Eagle. I may now be on board with the "Chip is crazy" crowd, which I wasn't before.

But my real concern is what we do at RB. I thought all along we'd decide quickly and make a move on someone else we liked. Really hope the front office isn't overconfident now after one good year and thinks they can just put anybody out there. This FO had Mikel Leshore ahead of Murray on their draft board.

The brilliance of Chip, or really what we like to call the Common Sense of any football coach except Jason, is that Chip will use play action as leverage and strategy when his RB is running for 5 yards per carry. And he will hold leads with Murray and win series with first downs and win games like the Packer game by keeping the X factor player (offensive player of the year) IN the game (and not take him out of the game for slower WRs who have less catches and less yards after the catch than implied RB does). That's the big difference. Dallas could have kept Murray, Dez, etc but we still have Jason.

It's really hard to look at last years offense and truly think we are in better shape now. That was a special group and special moment and naive mismanagement wastes the moment.
