Meh.

Odds are better that a team tries to leapfrog Philly for the right to draft Keuchly.

I like that scenario too but am hopeful that a team looking for Tannehill would be more desperate and we look like we will be in obvious trade down mode at 14. Too many similar value players in the 10 to 20 range.

Yeah, I like the scenario where Natalie Portman is straddling my face while Keiera Knightley is riding my ding dong.

Let me know when were done talking about things that'll never happen, mmm'k?

If DeCastro is gone at 14 and Tannenhill is there, I draft Tannenhill.

Tannehill.

Why not?

If he were there, it might be discussed in the warroom some.

To this day Jones says one of his regrets is not planning better for Aikman's eventual departure. If they had a top-10 grade on Tannehill (as some teams probably will) and he were there at 14, they'd be crazy not to think about it. Romo has two yrs left on his deal and if he didnt have good seasons for some reason, or failed to win in the postseasons some, might be a guy we dont re-sign.

Odds are we arnt going to be drafting this early again the next couple seasons too. If they are looking for a future franchise QB and a guy like Decastro wasnt available, it might make some sense. He needs to develop, but he'd have time for that here behind Romo and Orton.

I think a good chunk of Jerry supporters would jump ship if we spent the 14th pick on Tannehill. To me, that's a worst possible case scenario for us. That's a nightmare.

@cmd, u don't like the player?

I think he's got a good arm, mobile, and he's tough. I think he's a NFL starter but not necessarily a Franchise QB.

I just think this team has much bigger needs at 14 than our 3rd string QB.

Drafting for need is almost always a bad thing. Some of the best moves with QB's are the one's made where the guy doesnt need to play right away, as would be the case here.

Saying he's only a "3rd string QB" is the kind of short sighted stuff that has always hindered Jones. He has far too often thought of "what do I get now?" as opposed to planning for down the road.

I'm not saying I would definitely take him if he were there, but its certainly something that would need to be considered. He has the physical skills and the mental capacity to be a pretty good NFL QB down the road.

I just don't think it's smart to draft your 53rd player with the 14th pick. We have Romo, Orton, and McGee (for at least one more year). Cutting McGee now because you drafted his replacement in the top 15 of the draft does nothing to make this team better in the immediate future (now to 3 years). Plus, with the new NFL CBA you can hit free agency after 4 seasons. You want to waste 2 to 3 years on a 3rd stringer? I don't.

If he's rated as a franchise calibar QB and a top-10 pick, then he's worth the investment and the wait. The team would be better off down the road because of it.

Highly unlikely it happens, but if it did I would understand the rationale and wouldnt have a big issue with it.

I'd rather draft Brock Osweiler in the 2nd if we go dbair's route. We need a blue-chipper to start from Day 1.

a much better plan. Osweiler needs a few years to be groomed. I think he'll be another Matt Schaub.
