I'd rather have a cornerstone player like Tyron Smith.

Me too, but again it depends on who is available and what kind of grade and projection you have on the QB.

A franchise QB is the ultimate cornerstone player, even if he isnt a cornerstone player the first day he walks out there on the field for us.

Tannehill is not that guy.

Thats your opinion. He very well might be rated quite high on alot of teams boards.

We dont know yet (and might not ever) what Garrett and the Cowboys think of him. But if they firmly believe the guy has franchise QB ability, even if it isnt for a few seasons then there is certainly nothing wrong with taking him at 14.

Disagree completely.

If they take Tannehill at 14 they need to turn around and trade away DeMarcus Ware, Witten, and Romo. Then they need to apologize to Brandon Carr. Last, they can tell theebs and all other season ticket holders that the next 2 years' season tickets will be at a reduced rate since we would clearly be in rebuilding mode.

Taking Tannehill at 14 would set this franchise back even further than Jones has put as already.

I havent seen the guy play enough to make an educated decision.

But any team (us or anyone else) that has a situation where their current QB is getting up there in age and has only a little time remaining on their contract, and is in position to take a guy that they have graded as a franchise calibar QB isnt making a foolish decision if they pick said guy.

The draft isnt just about today. The draft is more about building for the future.

Miami (Ohio) G Brandon Brooks impresses
March, 21, 2012
By Calvin Watkins

On March 1, guard Brandon Brooks of Miami (Ohio) impressed 25 NFL teams with a 5.0 40-yard dash, 36 on the bench press and a vertical leap of 32 inches at his Pro Day.

One team in attendance was the Dallas Cowboys.

Brooks is a mid-round selection. If the Cowboys don't draft a guard/center with the 14th pick overall next month, Brooks could be around for the Cowboys to consider.

Here's what Scouts Inc. had to say about Brooks' awareness: "Picks up blitzes more times than not but missed several gap calls in the 2011 Western Michigan game. Turns to locate backside pressure when no one comes to him in slide protection. Keeps eyes up and locates linebackers when asked to combo block up to the second level."

Here's more on Brooks from Scouts Inc., but you have to be an ESPN Insider to read it.

NFL Draft Scout had this view of Brooks.

Still curious to hear some explanations as to why his combine workout was so bad. He certainly didnt work out anywhere near like how he plays.

It's been four months and Coby Fleener's ankle still isn't 100%? Can you say slow healer? This may be the worst TE class that I've seen.

Cowboys TE coach John Garrett at Stanford Pro Day, undoubtedly checking out TE Coby Fleener

Stanford TE Coby Fleener just ran a 4.45 - so much for him being available when Cowboys pick at 45 in 2nd round - may be a 1st rounder now

LSU WR R. Randle had a VG pro day today - Ran in the 4.33 - 4.36 range depending on the scout, ran excellent routes & caught ball very well.

Fleenor likely locked up a first round spot. Never make it past the NYG's at 32 but may not even make it to them.
