Count me in that group. I wonder if we should have kicked the tires on Bo Levi Mitchell or drafted Will Grier. What might we have in Mike White? Prescott's accuracy is troubling. Thoughts?
I love him but I'm sold on him at 15-20 million per year so he can have team around him,
30+, fuhgetaboutit!
but he'll get paid and we'll find out who was right in due time
i dont think jerry has ever had a problem paying sticker price.
But wait! It gets worse, he's proud of overpaying:
Is it technically an over pay if that’s what the market says?

I suspect everyone has a different answer but imo, if paying "market price" (which is currently top 5 money) for a QB I rank to be mid tier (15-18) because I'm desperate & have no other options, then in my estimation, I've over paid. Especially if paying that QB "market price" hurts the team by sucking up the salary cap, thereby lowering my chances of winning,
if the goal is to simply fill all the slots available on the team and meet or exceed the salary cap floor, then I guess I paid market and who gives damn
Dak's a dink and Dak QB that has had the benefit of pretty good defense that protected his 21 and 22 points per game average offense the last 2 years. That's bottom third of the NFL. They'll pay him like a top 5 QB and he's a mid level QB, at best. When your best player is a RB, you've got the wrong QB.
I think the key for them is that they have to continue to draft well. Also they need to allow the non-stars to walk or trade them. If they are going to pay Dak, DLaw, Zeke, Jaylon, Cooper, Zack Martin, Fredrick, and Tyron then they will. We’d to continue letting guys like Barry Church, and Beasley (and La’el Collins) walk while also looking to trade guys like Byron Jones. Going that route of course means they will never be big players in free agency, which I’m ok with.
Also factor in the annual increases in the salary cap (about $10 mil annually). So personally I’d be ok with them paying Dak $30 mil a year (or market value) as long as they continue to draft well and not over spend on mediocre guys on their roster. Sure some might consider Dak mediocre but the fact is in 3 years he’s been pretty good (based on numbers) in spite of not being the. OST accurate QB out there.

That’s definitely one way to look at it, and a lot of people would (and do) agree with you. However (devil’s advocate), if you look at his numbers, including his rushing numbers he out performed Carson Wentz last year and Wentz is legit staring at a $40 mil a year contract. He’s the “next big thing”. Also Dak was. It the reason they lost to the Rams in the playoffs, the run defense was (and coaching).
One could say that he’s the perfect QB for this team. He’s a good leader and by not being a great passer he allows this team to do what they do best which is run the ball. Now he does need to take more chances downfield and he does need to use his legs more. Those are things I personally think he’ll get better at as he gains experience.
Let me ask you this Mr. B......who cares? And who cares that he might have outpreformed a guy coming off a serious knee injury? The reality is that even with the best RB in the game this offense averages 22 points per game. I really could care less what the Eagles do with Wentz or the Giants do with Eli or Jones. 3rd and 5 might as well be 3rd and 25 with this QB.
He "allows" this team to do what it does best (run the ball) because they have a QB that can't pass the ball. It doesn't have to be either or. And listen to yourself....you want your QB to use his legs more. That tells me alot of what you really think of Dak's passing ability. Would someone say "I want Brady to run more?" or "I want Mahomes to run more..." or "I want Rothlisberger to run more....." or "I want Rodgers to run more..." That's just code for "my QB can't throw the rock."
Do I want the to have to pay Dak $30+ mil? Hell no, but that is the market. They’ve made it clear he’s their guy so either they pay him $30 mil this off season or they pay him $40+ next off season.
Ideally I would like to see them drafting a QB about every 3 years like Green Bay used to do back in the 90’s but that’s just not going to happen.
As for Dak as a player, he’s not a bad player. He will make some bad throws but ultimately he’s actually a really decent QB. His accuracy is hit and miss but his leadership skills are off the chart. He’s also durable and his numbers compared to Wentz are very comparable and even better in most cases. When you factor in his rushing numbers (yards and TD’s) and factor in that Wentz has missed time with another season ending injury Dak actually had a better year last year.

we could trade him for two goats and a chicken.
