Dak is nothing special. Average at best. He’s an errant passer.
Maybe we could trade him for two goats and a chicken. LOL.
Let’s move on...

And waste the team that they’ve built around him?

I don't want to sign him anytime soon. It's not like it's gonna cost us twice as much to sign him next April if he has a good year. Prove to me that you can have a dominant season (with the help of Cooper) while improving significantly in terms of turnovers in the pocket and errant passes. Right now he's a mulatto Andy Dalton, and Andy ain't worth $30M.

That is also an option. If he has a good year though the market would likely be $40 mil per season for him.

I absolutely think he should use his legs more because he’s a threat with his legs. I’m not saying he needs to run the ball 25 times a game but there are a handful of times where he should definitely take off. He’s smart when he runs and slides to avoid big hits. He’s shown that he can make big plays with his legs so why would you want to take that away from him?

I'm sorry Mr. B. But your whiole post is just a lot of excuse making for Dak's deficiencies. The running QB has rarely been a recipe for success. And do you really want your franchise QB to run and risk injury?

He’ll never be Rodgers, Brady, or Brees with his arm. That’s obvious. He can get better though. You mention Big Ben. If there is anyone in this league that Dak is similar to its him. In Ben’s first three years he was a bus driver. He wasn’t out there slinging it around when he got that first Super Bowl. He had a great team around him with a great defense. His job was to manage the game and not fuck up. Sound familiar? As he gained experience his passing improved. That is the hope for Dak. He’s shown he can play in this league.

Rothlisberger won the SB in his second year. He's the engine that makes that team run. He's the most important player on that team and the team was 6 and 10 the year before they drafted him. That's what teams do when they have aging QB's, they draft one in the 1st round.

Let me ask you a question? Are you prepared to waist the team they have now to start over at QB?

We're already wasting the team with a sub-standard QB. You're defeating your own argument.

What is YOUR plan for a QB? Because with the team they have now you’re not getting a top 5 pick to go draft a Baker Mayfield or Pat Mahommes. You’re also not prying Rodgers away from Green Bay or Brees away from New Orleans. So what’s your plan? Let Dak walk and draft a QB late in the 1st and hope that he has a start to his career like Dak did? So you plan to groom a guy for 4-5 years? Because if that’s your plan then this team’s window is likely closed. Realistically this team is primed to win right now. They will have about a 4 year window and right now Dak is their best realistic option. He has the leadership skills and we know that he won’t fuck it all up. I agree that he likely won’t win you the game with his arm but he’s definitely not going to lose you the game either. He’s going to rely on the best players on this team to do that. I guarantee you that if this team had a guy out there slinging it around and blowing games at the end by throwing int’s you would be screaming why aren’t they running it more when they have the best running back and OL in the NFL. We had that guy already in Romo and how many rings did he get?

Who grooms franchsie QB's for 4 years in today's NFL? That's not even an argument worth discussing. Mahones wasn't a top 5 pick but the Chiefs went out and got a QB because they weren't satisfied with 12 and 4 which was their record the previous season when they drafted Mahomes. They had a bus driver QB in Smith and a decent back-up in Foles but they didn't take the Jerry Jones approach of "we like what we have." In addition, Rodgers was drafted with Farve still on the team because they had a plan. And Brees was a second rounder. Teams didn't just settle and neither should we.

And this quote kills me: "I agree that he likely won’t win you the game with his arm but he’s definitely not going to lose you the game either." This drives me nuts when I hear this from a Dak supporter. I mean, what are you saying? You're going to pay the man top 5 QB money but he'll have to rely on the D which is what he's been doing. Hey, Dak's a winner!!! Yeah, a winner who leads his team to 22 points a game and prays the D holds.

If not Dak the. What is YOUR plan for a QB?

In addition to my earlier post, I don't sign Dak now. If he has a great year and it costs me more money, so be it. If he doesn't, then go out and draft a QB and do it every year until you get it right. The position is that important if you want to win championships.

You still did not say what your plan to find a franchise QB is and groom him in enough time to take advantage of the team they have right now. And Pat Mahomes wasn’t taken in the top 5 it he was taken in the top 10. There is no way in hell this team is getting a top 10 pick, they’re too good.

So again, WHAT IS YOUR PLAN? Dak haters can say “aww he sucks”, “he’s Quincy Carter”, he’s this, he’s that. But what is your plan to upgrade? By the way, saying he’s Quincy is the dumbest shit I ever heard. Quincy couldn’t even take a snap from under center and Dak was rookie of the year.

As for Big Ben, yes now he’s the engine that makes that team run but he wasn’t that in his second year. He was the definition of a bus driver. He had a superior team around him (as you stated) and his job was to not fuck it up. That’s exactly where Dak is at this point in his career. He has a superior team. The one drawback that Dak is working with is inferior coaching.

So you are willing to waist this team? Because you’re going to be drafting in the low 20’s at best. Historically guys drafted at that point in the draft are not much better than Dak if at all. If you’re lucky you might end up with a guy like Derek Carr but he’s not better than Dak.

Statistical significance doesn’t imply practical significance. To put it in plain language, something being Statistically Significant doesn’t necessarily mean it is feasible or of any practical importance. This can be moreso true with a QB.

There was no way KC was picking in the top 10 either. They were picking 27th that year. But they moved up to take a shot at a franchise QB. And it cost them their 27th pick that year, a 3rd round pick and a first round pick the following year which would probably be a low first first rounder since they were coming off 12 and 4. I would trade my first in next years draft and a third to move up for a potential franchise QB....all day, every day. I mean, fuck me, we traded a first for a fucking WR who wants a new contract just to carry this scrub QB who also has the best RB and OL (arguably) in the game.

You're making up your own fantasy argument that doesn't exist. Dak is not QC and I never claimed he was and I don't many here, if any, claimed he was. If I'm wrong, please show me. But I guess that makes you feel better by creating this false equivalency and make you feel better about our current deficient QB. Here, I'll help you......Dak is not QC.....feel better?

Pitt had such a superior team pre-BR that they went 6 and 10 prior to drafting him. They won the SB two years later. They won another SB 3 years after that and were in another one a couple of years later. BR made Antonio Brown, a 6th round pick, a multi-millionaire and a top tier WR. Who the fuck is JuJu Smith-Shuster? Just the guy that had almost 500 more yards than Cooper and it didn't costs Pittsburgh a first round pick. QB's make the players around them better. We rely on our OL, WR, RB and D to make our QB look better.

If KC took that approach, they'd never have Mahomes. Same with GB and Rodgers. But teams have to have a plan. The best run team in the NFL is not averse to drafting QB's while Brady is still on the roster. And then trade them for draft picks to boot. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we're developing guys like Kellen Moore, Cooper Rush. Dustin Vaghn and Stephen McGee. I'm getting pissed just thinking about it.

And you also act like we're some perennial powerhouse picking in the high 20's every year. In the past 8 years, we've picked in the top 10 3 times. Granted, we moved up for a CB but that's the problem with how this team is run and it's excuse making fan base. We'll move up for a CB and pick a RB top 5 but then make excuses that we can't get a QB because we'd have to move up. It's just a fucking stupid argument.

Yeah “waste the team” that has bee built around Dak. LOL. Send up a flare when you get a clue.
Dak is a career backup type only.
JJ sticking with him and the blank sheet Garrett leaves us idling along in the “sub par zone”.
How can any objective fan defend Dak?

Well, regardless of who thinks what about Dak, the fact is he’s going to get signed to a big money deal so everyone should just get used to it.

We can win with Dak

He has proven that the one thing he can do is win games.

Is he a top ten QB?
No

Is he accurate?
Not nearly as accurate as we would like

But shittier QB’s have won Super Bowls before. Just ask Flacco or Trent Dilfer for gods sake!

Dak won’t be the reason we lose in the post season.

Coaching will!

Until we change the HC we may never really know how good of a QB Dak can become.

If we don’t get a HC that will play to Dak’s strengths instead of trying to turn him into something he is not (a pocket passer) then Dak will have already reached his peak as a QB

Exactly

Regardless of his past performance or the 2019 season performance Dak will be paid in the $30mil plus a season range.

Unless he totally shits the bed and completely falls apart this season we will be paying Dak the big bucks.

Not only that, but I’m gonna bet that Good ole Jeruh will make Dak the highest paid player in the league!

Book it Danno!

And as soon as Dak signs that deal Wentz will beat it by about $10 mil more a season.

I’d be more than happy with that

Let the Shegulls tie up as much of their cap as possible on an often injured QB

that is fine by me

The fall back of the uninformed when they can't back up their argument. "Hey, go root for another team if you don't like it!!!" Or "he's going to get sogned so just accept it!!!"

It's not your fault Mr. B. You're a victim of Stockholm Syndrome.......

Do you even listen to yourself Scott? That's your argument? "He's a winner." So was Alex Smith.

And here's to hoping that Dak is an outlier (ie: Dilfer or Flacco). I can't even fathom this argument........whatever.

Uninformed? How am I uninformed? You don’t seriously think they are just going to let Dak walk and draft some time guy late in the first round do you. If that’s what you believe then sorry son, you’re the one misinformed. You have to be living in some fantasy world where they are going to ditch Dak and go draft some elite prospect that will lead them to the promised land. I never said “go root for another team”, I honestly don’t give a crap if you root for the Cowboys or not. I will root for them.

I personally don’t believe Dak is this horrible QB that should be compared to Quincy Carter like some here have done. Is he an elite passer? Hell no. But he is adequate. He’s good enough for this team to win. They’ve been in the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years and if not for Zeke’s legal issues it would have been 3 years straight. Coaching has held this team back not Dak.

So if you want to quit following the team, that’s on you. All I’m saying is Dak is going to get signed, that’s a fact. Get used to it, or don’t. Again, no sweat off my back.
