Fuck it, let's ride with Arkin at RG. His situation is sounding very similar to Saint's OG Jahri Evans who stepped in for an injured starter at RG, as a 4th round rookie from a small school (projected starter that year Jermane Mayberry got hurt in TC and eventually retired) and flourished immediately. But while Evans is loaded with talent, Arkin is loaded with technique.

Arkin also appears to be a bit of a badass. He will be a fixture no later than beginning of the the 2013 season.

I hope Nagy can one day match his talent up with his attitude, cuz that could be a nice tandem inside. Wishful thinking in the extreme on Nagy though.

Nagy is JAGy. I have little hope for him, even his college coach was surprised he was drafted.

Jerry Jones: Cowboys will not sign another guard

SAN ANTONIO – The Cowboys might not be done in free agency, but Jerry Jones guaranteed that they will not sign an offensive guard.

In fact, Jones went so far to say, “Not in the offensive line.” And he repeated it a couple of times for emphasis.

Jones said he sees no need to sign a veteran such as Leonard Davis, Brian Waters or Rich Seubert to compete with Montrae Holland for the starting job at right guard despite perception that the 6-2, 340-pounder is the weak link on the offensive line. The decision to cut Davis, who was scheduled to make $6 million this season, resulted in the Holland moving up the depth chart.

Jones did say fourth-round rookie David Arkin is in a “legitimate competition” with Holland, who is considered day-to-day after missing Friday’s practice due to a sore back. However, offensive line coach Hudson Houck believes it’s important to have an experienced guard next to rookie right tackle Tyron Smith to help the No. 9 overall pick with the mental aspect of executing assignments.

Jones acknowledged that he expects Holland to start at right guard. Jones insisted he trusts Holland, who has started two games for the Cowboys and 50 games in his nine-year NFL career.

“Holland has never let us down,” Jones said. “When it comes time to get in ballgames, he plays well in ballgames. He’ll continue to get these reps and he’ll play well. I’ve never doubted him.”

I just don't get what he sees (or doesn't see). You are breaking in Tyron Smith on the rightside. Why wouldn't you want to ensure he has a quality RG there to ease the transition?

How can he say Holland has never let us down?

He's always injured, and he's never performed well when given a chance.

WTF.

That's our great GM talking there. He knows what's best for the team.

Hey, that's funny because I thought Jason was in charge of the roster. hmmm.

Holland is nicked up again. He can't stay healthy, and he's a blob. He's not that talented to begin with.

Arkin isn't an option, because we can't afford to have two rookies on the right side of our line.

Outside of Davis - who Watkins is reporting is open to coming back - who is out there?

This is a gaping hole.

It HAS to be addressed. But with who?

Not every team is loaded accross the board.

The only place we really lack depth, IMO, is safety and guard.
