Werder ripping off my breaking news. I knew about this all weekend, but my source ("Jones") asked me to keep it quiet a few more days.

The Dallas Cowboys have reached an agreement with free-agent guard Brian Waters, according to a league source.
The Cowboys worked out Waters on Tuesday and offered the six-time Pro Bowler a one-year contract worth $1.7 million. Incentives would've increased the deal.
Even though Waters' salary would be guaranteed if he's on the opening-day roster, the Cowboys don't expect him to play Sunday night game against the New York Giants. A source says his conditioning level would be a potential concern as is the fact he has not familiarity with the other members of the offensive line or coach Jason Garrett's offense.
The Cowboys have made being more physical up front their first priority this offseason, using a first-round pick to draft center Travis Frederick, who carried a second-round grade on the Dallas draft board. The Cowboys also want to protect Tony Romo after the quarterback was sacked a career-high 36 times each of the past two seasons.
With the Cowboys signing the 36-year-old Waters, who last played for the New England Patriots in the 2011 season, it means they;ve offered more money in terms of a contract or have worries about the health of their offensive line. Waters spent his first 11 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Starting left guard Ronald Leary did some individual drills Monday after recovering from minor knee surgery. Leary did feel better on Tuesday when he showed up to Valley Ranch for treatment during the players off day.
