Do we ever front load contracts like this? Aging players cost less against the cap the older they get... whotta novel idea.
Yeah Miller and Phillips will make a huge difference. Omg actual pass rushers to compliment Ware?
Well at least Dallas has Martay Jenkins or whatever that dudes name is.
Why not. He's got great skin.
Putting aside the reputation of the Cowboys braintrust......there really wasn't a trade market for Ware?
I know people want to say "Oh no one would take him because of his salary"......you could have worked that out before hand. A team trading for Ware has no signing bonus commitments, so re-do the contract as part of the deal.
Convert his $12 million dollar salary this year into say, an $8 million SB over three years, with a $4 million base this year, an $8 million base in year two and $10 million in year three.
Yearly cap hits.....$6.66 million, 10.66 million and 12.66 million. You can cut after two years with a cap hit of $2.66 million.
Guarantee years 1 and 2. You get a 3 year, 30 million contract with $20 million guaranteed which, I think, is what he got with Denver.
A guy signed in 1 day for $20 million guaranteed had to have a market for his services. You're telling me the Jets wouldn't have thrown their 4th from TB over? Maybe a 3 or 4 from Cleveland? A four from the Jags?
They got a 7th for Dante Rosario and they couldn't get a thing for Ware?
I wouldn't want a 10 mill cap hit for a 3rd round pick... which is the most I think we could have gotten for him.
I'm not sure what you are saying?
I would have taken anything for him as opposed to letting him walk for free. There was obviously a market for his services. Did Dallas even try to get anything for him?
Or could have restructured here. I'm glad he's on a good team.
You said we would have taken a 6.6 mill cap hit in 2015 and a 10 mill cap hit in 2016 by redoing his contract. That's not worth a 3rd rounder to me.

I'm sure Dallas would have preferred to trade him. A lot of teams tried to work out trades for guys.
None of them worked out because everyone knew said players were probably going to be released anyway.
Do you really think they tried? I don't.
Seems there is a trade market for Sproles
Sproles doesn't make anywhere near what Ware does either, does he?
He's also not coming off of two injury plagued down years.
Sproles is also publicly stating he doesn't want to be traded, and would prefer the Saints release him.
No that would be the cap hits for the team that traded for him. The cowboys cap hit is the same no matter what
Dallas trades him to a team with the agreement he modifies his deal as stated after the trade is complete
