There's a reason that Steve Young and Brett Favre are considered the greatest QBs from that era, despite having 1/3 as many rings to show for it...

Does Romo have a stacked team made to succeed or is Jerry a bufoon who can't construct a team?

Which is it it amigo? It can't be both

The team isn't stacked, but yes, Tony does have a lot of skilled players to work with (Dez, Miles, Felix, Murray, Witten, etc.) And before anyone starts whining about the O-line, remember that Troy had to work with guys like Hegamin, Page, Shiver and McIver late in his career.

The fact is that Aikman benefited from a great organization in the early 90s, with a real NFL-caliber coaching staff and solid talent around him at positions that we just completely ignore now. He parlayed that into a HOF career, the last 4 years of which he was average/mediocre at best.

Give him Jason Garrett as an HC, and take away the talent Jimmy and his staff brought in through savvy moves like the Walker trade, and Aikman would retire quietly as a more accurate version of Alex Smith. Of most importance, the Dallas O-line in the early 90s was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, in the history of the NFL. When Emmitt wasn't dominating games, Aikman had much more of a chance to get the ball off.

Some Dallas fans are just unfortunately are too dumb to appreciate Romo, even after going through about 10 years of AWFUL qb play. It's a shame.

Yeah, and it's no surprise that he played like shit late in his career too. I attended a couple games where fans boo'd his stiff ass off the field.

Y'all have a selective memory.

Exactly. Romo's had to play with those type of guys blocking for him his whole career.

Tempted to go dig up that bye week chatter thread where Cythim got owned re: Tony. Seems like most people agree Tony's a stud QB now. Better than Aikman? Arguable as you can see. But a stud QB? No doubt.

you don't even need to exalt Aikman's supporting cast or poo-poo Romo's. Just watch the film, Romo plays the position at a higher level than Aikman did. It's just the progression of time. Athletes today are better. Faster. The windows are TIGHTER, no matter what the rules are. QBs today are putting in more time and just playing the game at a higher level than the people who came before them. Aikman has tipped his hat to that progression so what's the big deal?

Felix, miles, Murray? Meh until proven otherwise.

I thought Dez was a ****** who can't be counted on? I read it right here on this board

I vividly remember seeing his name at the absolute bottom of the NFC QB ratings in the newspaper

I mean, Romo just got done a season in which he threw double digit TDs to some nobody who had been cut by two teams. Troy has tipped his cap, you should too.

Retards.

Got it so now Troy is a modest, brain-damaged ****** who doesn't really know what he's saying. Thanks LaVarr!

It's called "professional courtesy." I'm sure that if you combed through the archives, you could find him saying nice things about Quincy and Henson too. Lord knows Staubach did.

As for Robinson, him getting open had more than a little to do with those TDs as well. It's not like Tony was threading the needle to him pass after pass.
