Romo has been straight lethal with so much less. Aikman had an actual NFL-caliber coaching staff (for awhile) and a plethora of talent around him.

There's no doubt that Romo is at the least a franchise QB, but they've failed to get any talent around him and have also failed to get a real coach to get the best out of the players and use his timeouts appropriately (kinda like Jim Harbaugh).

Those are the factors that more accurately differentiate the two.

Not really, but thanks for trying

oh I thought me and Aikman were talking about who played QB better, not who QB was on one of the best teams of all time.

You know what they say, stats are for losers

Aikman's numbers werent as good, but he was the better player. I guarantee you that if you poll 32 league GM's/personnel people and ask them who you start a franchsie with- Aikman or Romo , that all 32 would take Aikman.

When Tony took over the reins from Bledsoe in 2007, he was throwing to future HOFer Owens, Glenn, Crayton and Witten, while handing off to workhorse Marion Barber.
What have they done once they left?

Probowlers- Flozell, Davis, gurode, Owens, witten, barber, Ken Hamlin, ware, rat, mcbriar, Newman, bradie

Romo's a kingmaker for WRs. get ready for Robinson to disappear too. Who did Aikman ever make? Alvin Harper? For what three playoff games or something?

According to a certain HOF WR, he made him.

Also, Jay Novacek was a nobody when we go him via Plan B

Kelvin Martin was a nobody. Kevin Williams was a nobody.

Didn't the Cowboys send like 11 players to the Pro Bowl just a few years ago? Conversely, when Troy arrived in Dallas, the cupboard was more or less completely bare. By the end of his rookie year, in which he got hurt behind a leaky o-line, he was throwing to guys like Derek Shepherd and James Dixon. Late in his career, he was again playing behind a bad o-line and throwing to scrubs like Billy Davis and Eric Bjornsen. When Tony took over the reins from Bledsoe in 2007, he was throwing to future HOFer Owens, Glenn, Crayton and Witten, while handing off to workhorse Marion Barber. Let's stop pretending that Tony is or was a one-man show.
Actually the talent at the skill positions was at least comparable in Aikman's rookie season. Then the next year he got an Emmitt. Romo's never had the RB who could take pressure off of him, until Murray went off for those few games. And Romo's made stars out of Miles Austin and Laurent Robinson.

I think as a pure passer, the TD-INT ratio and completion percentage weigh heavily in favor of Romo.

It's real simple.

Theres nothing Aikman could do that Romo can't. You can say Romo cant win like Aikman, but anyone not required to wear a helmet in every day life can see the difference between the teams each played with.

Romo can do anything Aikman could do. And some.

Patrick Jeffers. Why didn't "Romo's magic" do wonders for Ogletree or Dwayne Harris?

Not really. We lost Irvin to a torn ACL and then traded Troy's security blanket--Herschel Walker.

Troy had superior height and far superior arm strength, putting the ball in spots that Tony can only dream of. Again, I like Tony and agree that he's a top 8 QB, let's not get crazy.

We're talking about two inches of difference in their heights. Aikman put the ball in worse spots than Romo did, as evidenced by his interception numbers. Tony can thread a needle too, he just doesn't force it as much.

If anyone wants to argue this you're gonna be disagreeing with me, Sheik, and Aikman.

Take your nostalgia glasses off.

Tony has been blessed with weapons every since he took over the job. Troy started with junk and pretty much ended his career with junk. Nor did it help that he (prematurely) lost Irvin to a neck injury, Galloway to a knee injury, and was saddled with an over-the-hill Anthony Miller. If Tony had to throw to the likes of Chris Brazzell, Jeff Ogden, David LaFleur, or Deion Sanders, I dare say his INT stats would have spiked as well.

lol ok so he was being modest. spin away spinmeisters since the facts aren't on your side.

nuh-uh guys....if you had only seen more of his perfect spiral in non-rain games where he could grip the football, you would never say Romo played QB better than Aikman.

fixed

If Romo had the time Aikman used to have, he would probably be making guys like Jesse Holley, Martellus Bennett, and Kevin Ogletree hall of famers.
