I think we need to do a Mock trial here at the DCU.

Prosecution - peplaw
Defense attorney - bbgun
Al Sharpton - superpunk
George Zimmerman - Bob Sacamano
Jury aka "Not Guilty announcers" - Midswat
Trayvon Martin - jiggyfly

I want in on this. Dibs on bailiff.

They revoked his bail yesterday, because he had more money in his paypal account than the court knew (why does that matter?) and apparently had a second passport.

They were looking for an excuse.

I don't understand why he's being punished like this country would be so much better with Trayvon in it.

I'm beginning to think this guy is his own worst enemy. Don't make the prosecutor's job easier by lying about money that was never yours to begin with. If you do, it costs you your freedom and damages your credibility with a prospective jury pool.

The man was in jail, he had no idea how much money he had. This was on his wife. But also, why does it matter how much money he has in a paypal account for bail to be set?

He wasn't in jail for very long before posting bail. Certainly he knew how much $ was in his defense fund before securing his release. And the fact that he was speaking to his wife in "code" makes it all the more suspicious.

I'm not a lawyer, so I'm not sure what the connection is between his $ and the bail amount set by the judge. I always thought it was pegged to the severity of the crime.

I don't see what difference it makes how much money he has in his bank account.

I haven't read anything about Zimmerman's bail revocation issues...

But at a bond hearing, the defense attorney will usually ask the defendant about money to let the Court know what kind of bail amount would 1) be an amount that will guarantee that he would show up for all court hearings (enough to hurt him in other words), 2) while being an amount that the defendant would have a chance to post a bail and be released.

If he's determined to not be a flight risk, the court will generally set a bail amount that accomplishes those two purposes. But if the defendant is found to have a lot more cash on hand than he testified to, then I guess it could lead to a reconsideration of the bond amount.

There is no where that Zimmerman could possibly go as it is. I'm sure he's watched all the time from the police to the community.

Everything I've heard says that Zimmerman has been hiding out at an undisclosed location. My guess is that the Court knows where he is, but it's been undisclosed to the public/media. I don't think the police or the community knows where he has been. Just guessing, but I would think if an issue came up the Court would be able to find him. I don't think he's a flight risk, I think it's more of an issue of his safety.
