I don't think he gets confirmed but I have to admit this is both a surprise pick, and an appealing choice.

His appointment would result in hundreds of resignations from the DOJ - which is a good thing.

I understand 3 Republican senators have already come out to oppose his nomination. I understand he could be a recess appointment but I don't think that flies for long.

Trump could have appointed someone like Mike Davis or Matt Whitaker who would be just as good as Gaetz with less opposition I think.

But with all Trump's picks I am willing to accept all of them until they prove me wrong.

It was a surprise pick for sure. But I'll say this. The Dems confirmed a cross dressing nut job to HHS. They had a cross dressing loon who was stealing luggage from airports. A traito was put in charge of Homeland Security. I really don't care what they think. And any Republican who opposes any of these nominations should be instanly and publically primaried.

I'm also sick of Washington insiders trading and changing jobs and desk views. I want cicitzen politicians running our governement not lifelong politicians who owe favors in every corner of the DC establishment.

But this isn't a fuck you to Gaetz. It's bigger than him. The American people gave Trump a resounding victory in an election full of fraud. He also won the national popular vote. Fuck all these scumbag Republicans who are not opposing Gaetz....but the will of the very people who made this a landslide election. Fucking traitors.

Byron Donalds would be another great pick but I don't know how you bypass a Trump who publically stated they would take the job. Plus it would leave another House seat vacant.
One of my good friends knows him quite well. He said Donalds probably wants the Governor job as Desantis cannot run again.

As I said in an earlier post, there are still RINO's that must be gutted from the party. I despise them with every fiber of my being.

Musk has warned them all up there.

He'll be bankrolling a lot of primaries against these clowns if they dont support Trump and his agenda.

Yep

The President earned the right to name who he wants to his cabinet. As you noted in another post the Dems got several pure whack jobs and people that were not qualified for the job at all confirmed.

They may not like Gaetz, but he is at least qualified for the job. They just dont like what he fully intends to do, which is 100% warranted.

I don't want it because her only claim to fame is she is married to a Trump. I opposed Hillary for the same reason, and Michele Obama. DeSantis will pick a replacement for Rubio and that person will serve until Rubio's term would have been up. Special elections are for the House not for the Senate.

I don't think it will happen because DeSantis is his own man and he will appoint who he favors which is surely not Lara Trump.

I would ignore all the rumors until we see the actual appointment. People are creating noise to sway public opinion.
I'd rather have outsiders in there any day over the typical swamp rat scum that ends up there.

If he appoints her, she is 100% going to support what DJT wants to push through for two years and then there will be a special election. She may not even want to continue there after two yrs of the nonsense. Works for me.

Why does everyone oppose Gaetz?

On the latest episode of The Steam Room podcast, which Barkley hosts with Ernie Johnson, the Basketball Hall of Famer broke down Trump's landslide win. And even though Barkley voted for Harris, he had some strong words for Democrats.

"I wish him nothing but the best, but we lost," Barkley said. "And I just want to say this to the Democrats, I’m an Independent who voted Democratic. Do me this favor, shut the f*ck up! When you win you get to say what you want to, when you lose you need to shut the hell up."

"We lost because we had no game plan," Barkley said. "We still haven’t solved the immigration problem…never addressed inflation. Bringing all these stupid stars out to rally the vote, what was that? I love Beyoncé. That ain’t gonna make me vote a certain type of way.

"You guys lost because y’all stupid. Come up with solutions. I don’t think everybody who voted for Trump is racist or whatever. I’m not a fan of the guy, but he’s the president, I’m gonna have to respect the office."

"People can vote for who they want to. I voted for Kamala. But like I said, we didn’t win…it’s all our faults for not having a game plan. We’re not having concerts and rallies. People want solutions, they want money in their pocket, they want the border secure."

Democrats are better at whipping their own members into order. Republicans are notoriously divided. You know Murkowski, who magically survived her last election, and Susan Collins are going to be a problem for Republicans. I don't think either is worried about being primaries. Murkowski will hide behind ranked choice voting again, and Collins is probably on her last leg anyway.

I agree. There is nothing magical about running a government agency. The bureaucrats have tried to convince us that only bureaucrats can do these jobs but every 4 years or so all these jobs are refilled with new people of various levels of experience. It gets done. I suspect private sector executives who ran corporations or even part of corporations can run government agencies fairly easily, maybe better.

The country manages to survive the turnover. And by the way, Mayorkas was awful at his job. Luckily is will be for only 4 years, but we will get past his incompetence and someone new will fix what he broke.
