irregardless

answer the question

Remember that video years ago that mocked chat rooms and someone said "irregardless" was not a word and the guy responded "Yes it is. It means not for a lack of regard."

Don't remember much else about the video but strangely I remember that part.

Three thoughts on Day 5 of Cowboys camp

By Jean-Jacques Taylor | ESPNDallas.com

OXNARD, Calif. -- Three thoughts on Day 5 of Dallas Cowboys' training camp:

1) Stephen Jones made it pretty clear the Cowboys have no intention of signing DeMarco Murray to a new contract before the season ends, but that doesn't mean he won't be on the team next year.

The reality is that last season was easily his best season -- 1,121 yards, nine touchdowns and a 5.2 average per carry -- in 14 games.

He's 26 and heading into his fourth season, and he still hasn't played 16 games. Running backs break down more quickly than any other position, so it's easy to see why the Cowboys don't want to give a guy with an injury history a new contract as he nears 30.

The franchise tag -- $9.54 million -- would be one option, and working out a three-- or four--year deal after the season would be another.

Murray is a good player, and if he puts together another good season, the Cowboys will find room and money for him.

2) Anthony Spencer said he's doing considerably more running and lifting than he has done in the recent past, but he still has no timetable when he'll return to the practice field.

He remains on the physically unable to perform list.

Whatever he gives the Cowboys this year must be considered a bonus. He's still recovering from micro fracture surgery and the longer it takes the more you have to wonder if he'll even play this year.

Spencer doesn't.

"I wouldn't be out here putting myself thought all of this," he said, "If I didn't think I could come back and play. I don't have a timetable, I'm just doing everything I need to do to put myself in a position to get back on the field."

3) DeMarcus Lawrence showed moves on consecutive plays in a pass rush drill that had to get the coaching staff just a tad excited -- even though each play occurred against backup Darrion Weems.

On the first play, Lawrence burst off the line, dipped his shoulder low and blew past Weems for what would've been a sack. On the next play, he faked outside, used a rip move and burst inside past Weems.

The confidence to use an inside move was impressive. Most young pass-rushers get so enamored by the outside move, they forego the inside ones.

47

One way to judge whether an offensive staff is doing a good job with the game plan is to look at their success with the first possession of the game.

The Cowboys scored 47 points on their first possession -- five touchdowns and four field goals. Only Denver scored more.

The Broncos scored 62 points on eight touchdowns and two field goals.

Player to Watch: Joseph Randle

This is an important season for Randle, who averaged just 3.0 yards per carry on 54 carries last season.

The Cowboys took him in the fifth round, hoping he could provide an adequate replacement if Murray went down. Well, he had an opportunity and he didn't do much with it.

If he doesn't play better this year, then the Cowboys will be looking to possibly add two running backs in the offseason. He must play well in the preseason to fend off Ryan Williams because the Cowboys probably aren't keeping four running backs.

Garrett gets out-coached every week because he over complicates the offense.
I sure do agree with this. Also, he gets enamored with theories. Stuff he thinks he sees in the film room on other teams.

If you want to say Dez isn't elite, I might agree with you. It depends on where you want to make the cutoff for elite. But no, he is not on micheal irvin status, or even one level below that.
And, that's what I'm saying.

Boys Want More Of Dez In Slot

By Jean-Jacques Taylor,ESPN Cowboys Blog

OXNARD, Calif. -- Dez Bryant caught 11 balls out of the slot last season, which is nine more than he caught in 2012.

The Cowboys want him to catch a lot more from the slot this season.

The Cowboys can finally expand Bryant's package of plays because they can move him around the formation and put him in the slot, where he doesn't have to deal with bump-and-run coverage.

Jason Garrett said the Cowboys would've liked to have done it in other years, but Bryant wasn't ready. His grasp of all the different positions wasn't good enough.

Now, it is.

There's a significant difference between playing outside receiver and one who is in the slot.

"He's grown as an inside receiver," Garrett said. "The trait and the qualities are different. I've been around a lot of outside receivers who looked like a fish out of water when they moved inside.

"If you picture an X receiver in right formation, there's no one outside of you. You're typically working against a corner by yourself or there's a safety rotating over the top. When you're inside, you have people inside of you and outside of you. You have a linebacker walked out, you have a safety coming down, and you have to have a feel for how to run the routes because there's a lot going on.

"It has a lot to do with your feel as an athlete -- your vision, your instincts and your experience. You have to get in there and do it."

All that would do is set the edge or tell us if D is in man vs. zone. At least that's what the football educator told me.

how about putting him in motion before the ball is snapped?

That is where the issue lies, to me. Get him in motion so the defense has to shift with him, or hand off coverage assignments at the very least.

So Dez would have been more productive if the offense wasn't so senselessly variable. Think of what Mike McCoy, Jim Caldwell, and Trestman did after Norv, Cameron and Tice respectively were fired after failing to run the ball and protect the QB in the same scheme that Jason is forcing? They simplified the plays down to specific targets, used varying formations, played to the players strengths (Rivers could dump off passes quickly without holding the ball too long, the Ravens were allowed to run exclusive running plays, and Trestman gave Marshall and Jeffrey's routes that quickly give them YAC), and all of them use the running game to control the outcomes in the passing game, rather than just a decoy for all passing plays.

Yep...same ol same ol with this team

They seriously cant get through one fucking practice without somebody breaking, twisting or pulling something

Hopefully he will be ok, but if he's gone that's basically the two most important players on the defense (Lee being the other, Lawrence because he was being counted on to provide outside/edge rush) gone before we ever set foot on the field in week one.

In other news, Romo is not practicing after the Cowboys just had a off day. Add into the report of Romo doing 4 hours of back treatment a day. I see Weeden and a long season ahead.
