Romo has played well since his early season debacles. But I see no other reason for Garrett's draining of the clock and settling for a 49/50 yard kick. He clearly didn't trust the team in that situation to run one more play despite the fact they moved down the field to get in that position in the first place.
The reason is, he's incompetent when it comes to clock management. Sometimes there is no other reason, other than incompetence. 99% of people with any football IQ would call a timeout there.

For the sake of argument, even if he were lacking confidence in Romo, he STILL should have called timeout and run the ball once to try to get a couple more yards. That wouldn't require him having any faith in Romo other than handling a snap and handing the ball off.

I had a chance to sleep on this whole mess.

I still want Garrett's ass fired. You can't have your head coach helping the other team win games. The difference between 8-4 and 7-5 is massive at this point in the season.

It's no surprise to me that Garrett didn't own this mess either. The guy thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, and that if he simply uses big words to say nothing, we'll think he's saying something intelligent without attempting to understand.

He's an empty warm-up suit. Albino Obama.

F him and his framed diploma.

It shouldn't have even come down to this. Third straight game we face up against a vastly inferior team and they give us fits to where we need OT or coming down to the last seconds to eek out a win or come up with a loss in this case. People say Garrett doesn't have any faith in Romo and that may be true, but it would fit right in with this assfuck's warped mentality of being counterintuitive in relying totally on the pass and abandoning the run.

It's not just Romo, but I don't think he had any faith in the line to protect or avoid a negative yardage run. We got inside the 33 meaning a FG of under 50 yards and that was good enough vs. risking one more play. I don't think he just lost track of the time, he intentionally wanted to run the clock and settle for the FG since they had made it inside their targeted line for kicking.

Assuming you're right for the sake of debate...

Let's say he just wanted to run the clock down from there and leave the FG as the last play. Why are we running up to the line and spiking the ball??? Why don't you just run the clock down to 3 seconds and take the TO? There are just as many risks, which are quite frankly more dangerous, in snapping the ball and spiking it as there are with calling a TO at 25 seconds and running a dive play. For example, if there was anything wrong with our formation -- not a stretch for this team -- we get a penalty and 10 second run-off, game over.

It's almost like he didn't know we had TWO TIMEOUTS!! Nothing that happened makes any sense in my mind.

With the way the run game was getting stifled I was hoping for 1 or 2 more passes...I was just baffled they let the clock run. I normally don't scream at the TV, but I was. Reminds me of Norv settling for a 49 yarder as well...eerily similiar.

I think this is true and he even alluded to it, however settling for a 48-59 yd attempt when the kicker has already struggled from long distance doesnt make much sense either, especially when we could have run 2, maybe even 3 plays. And with one more timeout they could have even tried to run the ball or a fairly safe screen/quick pass.

None of it does make sense. It's almost like he's a rookie HC who is in over his head. That's right, I said it...

:like

It's entirely conceivable that Garrett had no clue what our TO situation was. If he was that concerned about losing yardage on run, then why the hell not call a safe pass play after a TO? He was completely in over his head yesterday.

It's funny that Norv was also a prime candidate for the head coaching job here. Speaks volumes about the type of coach Jerry considers "talented" and worthy of working here. Blahhhh.

I still can't get over watching those fools run to the line to spike the ball when they had 2 timeouts left.

Tony must be scared to death to call a timeout late in the game after the Redskins "almost f up".

Like Sheik, I've had a night to sleep on it, and I am still so fucking angry over this ginger clown. I was just getting over the Lions and Pats debacles, and then he turns me around again and bends me over. I hate ginger sex.
