I don't agree with this at all. A steer is killed quickly for the sole reason of providing food. A fighting dog is tortured to the point of insanity, then turned loose on another to inflict as much damage as possible, with both dogs being injured horribly. One or both might die, but both will suffer terribly for it. I don't understand how you or anyone else can even begin to think both are similar.

And it has absolutely nothing to do with it being dogs. I would not like it if pigs were tortured and forced to fight to the death. Or cattle. Or chickens. Or anything, for that matter.

I can't speak for dogs or other animals, but a gamecock is not forced to fight. At the age of 6-8 months, they will kill each other on sight. They usually just beat each other to death which takes hours. It is a long drawn-out death and the winner dies quite often. Humans don't have to force them to fight. Mother nature takes care of that. That is the reason that the birds are destroyed when a cockfight is raided. The animal rights people never mentions that fact. I guess the entire species should be destroyed if they are not allowed to do what nature intended.

Nothing really. Blood sports have been around for thousands of years and I don't find them utterly evil. That said, I don't think slaughtering meat is the equivalent of dog fighting. Just not. One satisfying a necessity (even if there are other ways to do it).

I am a little baffled where this rodeo talk came from, but kicking a bull or throwing a calf on his asz is not the equivalent of dog fighting, but at least it is closer than eating meat.
