This team is really bad lol. Holy shit.

We should sell our players

Dez. Twill. Murray. Witten. Anybody that has any kind of value to try and stockpile picks to rebuild this thing

They are not a bad team and defense is showing some fight. Are they a playoff team? I dont know about that, but they are not a bad team.

I think they have talent , unlike a team such as Jacksonville, but the talent is not used well and all if the talent is on one side if the ball. I would say it is a bad team for that reason alone. I think the defense is going to he pathetic and the offense will not play up to their potential.

so it's come to this: we're debating whether we're bad or merely mediocre. at least I'm old enough to remember when this team was dominant.

I'd still go with Vaughan as backup.

Weeden isn't going to carry the team if Romo goes down. Trade him and start a stockpile of picks for next year.

I feel the same way. If romo goes down, we're screwed either way. I'd rather see if vaughn can be something while losing games and getting a better draft position.

I remember a time when John Fox was rumored to have a chance at being HC in Dallas. There was many fans that was totally against it. Look at where the Broncos are at and compare it to the Cowboys. Fox started out with much less talent than Garrett , but look at where the two teams are now. Garrett's HC stint has been a total failure and I think he has set himself up for a Campo type of season. Garrett has positioned the defense in a position where the talent level is about the same as the Campo years if it is not worse. Jason , Jerry and Stephen is a toxic combination that has sucked the life out of fans that are realist. By the way, Garrett said that the hits that Romo took was good for him. I bet Romo's back says different.

Jerry (and Stephen?) are a toxic combination to any coach,IMO, there isn't a coach out there that can overcome him (them?)

If Doug Free turns into a pumpkin again, that would pretty much negate the benefit of Martin's addition.

Me too, but those memories are fading fast, unfortunately.

Fins offense is awful, and even they gained nearly 100 yds rushing the first half
Dallas' #1 ranked defense in 1992 season gave up a average of 245 ypg. That shocks most people to hear that.

It's the points... The points. Keeping the opponent out of the end zone while they help you kill the clock making some yards and first downs.

There is no way anyone could ask for a better performance defensively, than we saw in the first half last night.

For some reason, the offense sucked and that happens more than most people generally realize too.

the bunches of Romo yards and mop up gains are hiding a huge flaw of an ineffective scoring system. Change the formations, change the amount of runs, or get upper tier speed at WR and at least the predictability will be reduced a little.
Where's the long bomb on 2nd and short? 2nd and short is basically a free play, where you take your shot. What does Dallas do with it? Try to run for it. Every time. And the opponents all know this.

Agree they're not "bad." They're just, not very good is all.

On the brighter side, there's already talk of Dallas snapping up Michael Sam is soon at the Rams cut him.

Especially with the refs calling holding if a defender so much as touches a receiver, it makes no sense at all not to be throwing deep. That is unless your bad back QB can't throw deep?

I think that I rather have the defense stink than have Sam on the team. Sam is not good enough to make up for the BS that will come with that situation.

Yeah I was being sarcastic - leave it to Jerry to see Sam's bedroom preferences worth a roster spot when Sam is cut.

Of course we all know redball's just running a plain vanilla offense in preseason, right? So as not to tip his hand on what this offense is really gonna do when the games count.:whistle

But really, this Dallas offense for years hasn't shown intent of purpose, identity or any real imagination at all. What is it supposed to be? What's its focus?

I fondly remember the days when Dallas faced 2nd and short, they would play-action to Emmitt, that would consume two defenders tackling him (famously drawing a flag in the NFCC game vs. San Fran) and Troy would unleash a bomb to Irvin.

When Dallas of today runs play-action, it's perfunctory. Nobody's really trying to sell it, they act like it's just a formality to call it play action. And it fools no one, doesn't even make the defenders hesitate for that half step you're looking for with it.

Back in the day Dallas' offense under Norv Turner WAS predictable to a point. "This is what we do, this is who we are, try to stop it" but that offense was good enough to be effective with the opponent for the most part knowing what they do. This one, isn't. It just simply isn't all that good of a offense. And hasn't been.

I now agree with some here who have said Romo's back issues go all the way back to last preseason at least - they say he never looked like the Romo of old last year. I go so far now to say he's even worse off physically than last year, and really it showed last night. Wouldn't surprise me if we're not seeing Romo's swan song this season.

He has played really well. Had two sacks last night. Id take em. I dont care if he likes dick.
Can't be any worse than what we have on the DL right now.

Vaughan's college teammate Ethan Westbrooks - who took the Rams' 10K offer and rejected Dallas' 5K FA deal? Will be starting for the Rams. We sure as hell could have used Westbrooks and he would have been well worth the 10K for us - he really wanted to play for Dallas.

. We still have Jerry, Fox would have been undermined, ignored and had Jerry's hand shoved straight up his tailpipe working him like a puppet

I got your sarcasm, but there are a ton of fans that would welcome him with open arms. If I was a player, and my team signed him, I couldn't feel comfortable taking a shower with him. I would refuse to play with him. I don't want him looking at my fine ass and having unclean thoughts. I would be uncomfortable with that.

I don't care if he was the second coming of Reggie White and he would bring a Super Bowl to the team. I don't want to see it. I catch enough hell from people now because I am a Cowboy's fan. This would just add to it. A gay Cowboy is gonna bring alotta Brokeback Mountain jokes.
