Thats what Ive been saying. If Frederick can be a solid starter for 8 years then I think that is well worth the pick.

Plus i think TWill is going to excel in this offense.

So sick of that disclaimer. Just because you're the #1 guy at your position doesn't automatically make you a first rounder. Some teams had Nassib as the #2 QB. Didn't mean he had to be overdrafted.

Scrambling QBs with mediocre arms do not last in this league.

Gruden seemed less than enthused when giving everyone the run down on him when he was selected.

We drafted some talented players, no doubt, but I would be curious to look at their board. How much higher did they have Escobar rated than Margus Hunt, Eddie Lacy, Larry Warford, Arthur Brown, etc? We passed on bigger needs to draft him, so I hope their board shows that he was the best pick by a wide margin.

I think Escobar will be a good tight end, a fan favorite, and sell a lot of jerseys, but taking tight ends in the second needs to fucking stop. Seriously.

I feel that my fear that Jerry didn't see guard as a real concern because of Leary jerkoff) proved correct.

And I feel that we didn't see value there at DT in the 2nd and instead went all in hoping Bennie Logan was going to be there in the 3rd. When he wasn't, the team was probably not really prepared so they just went BPA, a receiver we didn't really need, and then wasted the other third on the safety that'll never amount to anything.

I said it pre-draft but regardless of how you feel about the moves we did make a significant investment at guard last offseason. So the most likely spots for us in the draft were center and tackle. It was extremely unlikely that we were just going to give those moves one year and blow the shit up.

I thought we'd try and replace Free, but then 8 billion tackles went in the first (ALOT OF THEM ARE PROBABLY GOING TO SUCK - just law of what happens in the draft every fucking year - so I think we're lucky we didn't get one. Instead, we took the best center available (arguably) to hopefully shore up a huge weak point on our line for years now.

Not aggressively going after defensive linemen is inexplicable though.

I can see this being Miles Austin's last year with us and we'll need someone to take his place. The Terrance Williams pick wasn't so bad. Maybe we didn't see any OL we liked. Hopefully we've got a very clear picture of who will end up being a bust and who won't in the OL department.

We invested a lot financially in guards last year. But the guys we got sucked. In a bit of irony, about the only time Berny looked good was when he was subbing as a center.

Livings is terrible though. Guard was still a huge need.

Because of all the restructures, we cant' afford to cut him. He's pretty much got a guaranteed roster spot for at least the next two years regardless of how he plays.

More than anything else along the Oline you need continuity, a commitment to scheme and guys to just be comfortable working with each other. Everyone's offseason plans where they replaced 4 of our 5 starters from last year were unreasonable AND insanely idiotic in terms of thinking we can just plug alleged "talent" in there and all our problems would be fixed. No, we'd probably be as bad or worse than last year, no matter the alleged talent upgrades.

Go look at WSH. Took them three years and a bunch of scrubs but they trusted their system and made it work. We can't keep chasing our tails every offseason with this thing either we trust the coach's vision and we stick it out to the end (which will be this year if it doesn't work) or we just fail by default again. Replacing your entire line (what we did last year) is a recipe for disaster. I'm much more comfortable with us coming in with only 1 new starter and hoping our guards are either better with another year in the system or a young guy steps up finally and takes the position from Livings or bdeaux.

Sorry but contiuity isn't a substitute for talent. At least with Berny there is hope because he's relatively young and he missed last offseason (or at least part of it) with some sort of injury. Played better as the year wore on. Livings is garbage though. RT hasn't been addressed yet, although I'm sure it will.

And Washington isn't a valid comparison. They're offensive line didn't so much player better. It was more defenses having to contain against that gimmicky uh oh wheres the ball read option crap.
