Which is why we should take this money and use it over the next two years to build a line and a running game.

Build the kind of line other qb's have been given. Romo has been running for his life in every season but 07.

Draft a back and sign a veteran. Figure out the fb position. Figure out right tackle. Draft at least two o-lineman.

Make this offseason about building a running game.

We can platoon that spot with what we have and through the draft or a mid level guy this year.

Once he takes those cap numbers it's going to be a big problem.

We could also look to draft a QB to play behind that rebuilt line too, but noooo

First pff, you have no idea what the deal would look like if we signed him, so you dont know the longterm cap projection.

Second, if you dont re-sign him you absolutely have to replace him. That might mean using other free agent dollars on that position, or perhaps your first round pick. Or you could potentially hope that Tyrone Crawford can do the job.

If Kiffin and Marinelli like what they see and think he can be a really productive guy in this scheme, thats a huge plus, not a negative. You can re-sign him and use the draft picks and any other free agency dollars on other pressing positions.

We should always be looking for qb's.

But since Jerry, Stephen and Tom ciskowski run our draft we are to busy covering up previous mistakes with new ones to ever be able to draft a young qb.

If we didn't miss constantly all over the place we probably would have a good young qb behind romo right now.

Uh yeah I already said all that. Platooning or finding a mid level guy.

And of course kiffin will like him. He was very good last year there is nothing not to like except he will get paid like a weak side pass rusher which he is not. We already have that.

This organization can not handle another bad contract. It has to end. Spencer can not be resigned for the going market price and there is no way he is going to take less, if he was he would have three years ago. He didn't.

We cant look for a young QB to develop here, it'll hurt Romo's feelings.

Read it here and at CZ

Not saying their expertise is a negative, but I don't think they're able to truly evaluate him without having worked with him before. And how many times are we going to go through this with new coaches, "well if they say so, we should just believe them"?

I stopped a good 4 years ago and haven't been persuaded otherwise since.

Developing a young qb has nothing to do with romo. It has to do with the lousy roster.

What do u mean huh? Try reading, I think your capable of that although not positive.

I have said in my previous two posts, we can replace spencer by platooning the position with what we have and a draft pick or a mid level free agent.

If that isn't clear I can have my four year old draw you pictures, I am sure they are on your wavelength.

We need to start developing a young QB now. Let's not repeat what happened last time when we waited until Aikman couldn't possibly play anymore and then started throwing darts against the board. We would still be doing that now had it not have been for hiring a real head coach who brought along real assistants, one of which went to the same school as Romo and gave him a shot. I can guarantee you that won't happen again.

Holy crap but I'm with dbair.

Spencer was probably our best defensive player (yes it was a contract year) and it's one less hole, one less unknown. Hopefully, it's something close to the deal Ahmad Brooks got last year.

You can question them all you want, just saying I feel pretty good about the tarck records of Marinelli and Kiffin with DL's and what kind of players they want to fit their scheme. If they think Spencer's a good fit, why create another hole if they can work out a deal to keep him?

Like Kiffin gets a say in what players stay and which ones go. That's cute.

Did we ever have a different kind of David?

We did from the middle of this past season until the end of it. Now the Cowboys front office has flipped the switch on him and made him into one of their zombies again. Just this past week he bought over $400 in Cowboys merchandise according to my sources.

david's argument reeks of last year..Woicik, Callahan, and Jerome Henderson will coach these guys up. All is well.

Kiffin just came off coaching statistically the worst USC defense in their history. He's older than dirt and he's responsible for a disaster of a son. He deserves some serious skepticism here. As far as Marinelli, like him a lot, but he can't undo Jerry and Jason by himself.
